“Get in the damn truck, Fireball.” I scowl at the pile of dead around her.
“You lied to me. It was more than a flesh wound.” I look down as Thane curses to see a large, deep red stain down my side, soaked through my clothing.

“I didn’t even feel it.” I pull my shirt up and can see a bullet hole in my stomach. “Damn, that was my favorite ab too. Hurry up and dig the bullet out, Raven p>
“You can go to the clinic when we sort the wounded,” Thane growls as howls and yells ring through the air as we celebrate the victory.
“Waste.” I jump out of the truck and take Raven’s knife, inserting it into the wound in my muscle and rotating the knife around. With a grunt, I pop the small metal shard and throw it at the shifter at Raven’s feet. I can see grass through the whole she left in his chest.
Damn, that’s hot.
My mate would agree as she stares at my bullet hole, biting her lip, her arousal hitting me hard. “You want to defile Damon’s truck, Fireball p>
“Yes p>
“No..” Thane and Raven speak in unison.
“From now on, anyone within the inner circle drives
gestures toward Damon’s truck, which I borrowed.

Humvee. I’m done buying vehicles. Larry’s going to retire just off you two.” Thane
“A group came through the southern border. ETA to the town is two minutes.”.Tyler yells through the mind-link, monitoring our security and tech needs.
“Get in!” I demand. We jump into the truck and floor it to the pack. “They will get there before we do p>
“I know,” Thane snarls. Sirens wail as he mind-links, warning everybody to get indoors and prepare to defend themselves.
“Damon’s closer,” Raven states.
“He won’t risk her,” I answer.
The engine roared under my hands, and my knuckles were white on the grip. My pack was under attack, and I was still too damn far away.
I pushed the gas harder, the truck red-lined and made questionable noises from the onslaught of abuse it suffered.

He’s going to be so pissed.
“They’re downtown!” Thane yells from the bed p>
“Almost there,” I say as I hammer down. We hit the four-way intersection outside of town and launched. Weightlessness punched my gut, the seat belt biting into my chest as the world tilted in slow motion. I threw my arm wide, bacing Fireball against the seat as we soared
through the air.
The tires slam down, and I smack my head into the ceiling and crash back into the seat. I fight with the wheel to regain control. The
sound of a ton of bricks slamming into the rear of the truck tells me Thane made it. Raven’s legs are in the air as she tries to pull herself
back onto the seat.
I rounded the corner and slammed on the brakes, seeing the destruction this group has already caused. They have shifted and are destroying the town, attacking anyone in their way. The truck bounces, and I know Thane is already out and fighting. I jump out and pull Raven with me, and we shift. My black and gray paws are already pounding beside her red ones.
I catch a brown wolf by the throat, whipping him down against the pavement as Aretemis uses his strength to hold his head down with his paws, tearing out his throat.
His blood hits my tongue with a rush of heat, metallic and sharp.
Another wolf lunged, and I met him mid-air, snapping his spine with a savage twist before throwing myself toward the next target, my chest burning with the need to spill more blood.
A high-pitched scream down the sidewalk gets my attention. Raven’s already on her way, and I follow, killing as we go.
The scream comes from a storefront downtown. Two wolves have one of our she-wolves cornered against the building. Her fear is heavy and bitter in the air. I snarl but try to slide to a stop as I see Raven doing the same.
Bullets shatter the window that the she-wolf was pinned against. She throws herself down and covers as the glass rains down onto her. Rhonda emerges from the broken window, wielding her Glock 19.
She rains bullets on anything in her path.
She has no idea which wolf is on which side.
We’re all going to die.
“Get away from Cooters!” Rhonda yells as she unloads a clip at the two enemy wolves. Raven and I turn tail, trying to find cover from Rhonda’s spray of bullets.
The woman is crazed.
“That’s for not buying a girl dinner first,” she cackled. “Ooh, right in the sweet spot-bet you felt that deep.” A third charged, and she

sidestepped, pressing the barrel against his ribs before pulling the trigger. “Too bad you weren’t better looking,” the only warning the wolf got before the bullet tore through his ribcage.
While the rest of us tore through the fight with claws and fangs, Rhonda kept up her dirty commentary, leaving a trail of corpses in her wake.
I have to get my Fireball off her eye candy list.
“They’re all dead down here. You guys good?” Thane mind-links, sounding as exhausted as I feel.
“We’re good. Rhonda’s killing everybody p>
“Of course.” Thane cuts the mind-link as he assumes his Alpha leadership role, now that we need to deal with the aftermath.
“Follow me, Fireball.” I mind-link. The fight is over, and now we need to clean up the mess and help with the wounded.
My paws smack the pavement as I lead Raven down an alley behind a clothing store. She will need clothes, or I will cut out the eyes of
everybody who tries to look at her sexy body.
I shift in front of her and stand, inspecting my bullet wound that is nearly gone. Raven shifts, and I pull her naked body from the ground,
checking her for injuries.
