Chapter 6
I started to think that I was dying. But eventually the pain started to subside. I wasn’t sure how long it lasted for but when it was finally over, I got up covered in sweat and I walked to the mirror in my bedroom and I lifted up my shirt.
I saw a bruise coming up under my breast, over my ribs with a little open oozing wound right in the middle of it. So I grabbed a gauze and surgical tape and I taped it over the wound.
I knew exactly what this was. This is one reason why wolves can’t cheat on their mates. Because the other mate can feel it. In the worst way possible.
That heartless son of a bitch!
He was there having sex with Penelope but if I dared do anything like that to him, cause him any kind of pain, he would have me executed without thinking twice about it.
I took off my soaked clothes and I got dressed into another shirt and shorts and I sat on the floor leaning against the couch.
I looked over at my clock and it said that it was only 3am.
Not long after that I got back into bed and I tried to go back to sleep, but I couldn’t. I was too awake now and I just laid there staring out the window.
When mom finally got up again, she had to get ready for her early shift at a different diner in the pack.
When I got up I had a shower and got dressed for school.
“Why don’t you call in sick this morning and get back to bed?” I asked.
“I can’t afford it.” She said.
“You need to get some rest, mom. You can’t keep going on like this.” I said.
“I’m fine. I can’t afford to miss work p>
“You have a dozen jobs. Can you please just take one morning off p>
“I can’t, Morgan. Alpha Logan has just raised our rent.” She said.
“What? When did he do that?” I asked.
“Last week p>
“How much did he raise it?” I asked.
“We now have to pay $1200 a month.” She said.
“What? $1200 a month for this piece of shit trailer?” I yelled.
“It’s fine Morgan. Don’t cause a fuss. There’s nothing that we can do about it.” She said.
“He is such an asshole.” I said.
“Morgan. You watch what you’re saying. If anyone hears you talking about the Alpha like that then he will make sure you get punished.” She said.
“He shouldn’t be allowed to do this. And I’m not scared of that prick.” I said.
“You should be. Besides, the only people that can stop him are the werewolf council.
And they won’t listen to people like us. Not of our rank. They don’t listen to complaints made by omega’s or anyone ranked lower than that.” Mom said. “I know.” I said.
“Go on. You’re going to be late for school. Especially walking on that foot.” She said. “Have you thought any more about what we talked about last night?” I asked.
“No. I haven’t had a chance. I’ve been sleeping. It’ll take me a while to decide.” She said.
“Ok. Hopefully I’ll see you tonight.” I said.
When I got to school I saw Beta Levi standing next to the front door of the school and all the other students were greeting him as they walked in the building.
Once I approached the building his eyes locked on to me and didn’t move.
I glared at him as I limped into the building and he walked in behind me. Following
me to my locker and standing back while I was getting the books that I needed.
He was following so closely that it
was getting the attention of everyone at school and that was making me more nervous than when they were ignoring me or bullying me At least I knew how to handle those situations. I didn’t know how
to handle this one.
I finally turned around and he almost ran into me, but I looked him straight in the eye.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I asked.
“The school has camera’s. Alpha Logan knows that I’ve been getting bullied.” He stated, like it was no big deal.
Everyone knew that the school had cameras, but why the hell did he care that I was getting bullied now? It’s been happening for years.
“Why does he care?” I asked. And Beta Levi leaned down closer to my face.
“You’re still his mate.” He whispered so no one else could hear. So I whispered back,
“If I’m still his mate then maybe he should stop fucking his girlfriend p>
Beta Levi looked at me weird and then I saw Logan walking down the hall. That’s when I realized that Beta Levi had Alpha Logan on a mind link, listening to everything I was saying.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me into an empty classroom and left Beta Levi outside guarding the door so that no one would interrupt us.
“How the hell do you know that I’m still fucking Penelope?” He asked. “Are you spying on me?” He asked, accusingly and I scoffed.
I lifted up my shirt and I pulled the gauze down to show him the mark on my stomach that was left after he was unfaithful to our mate bond.
“I don’t need to spy on you.” I said, putting the gauze back in place.
He looked at me strangely, almost guilty, before he gathered his composure and he
put his hand in his pants pocket and stood up straight.
“Penelope’s not going anywhere.” He insisted. And he walked past me and left the classroom without another word.
I got through most of the day without paying much attention to Beta Levi following me around everywhere. But I didn’t like that he could see how life was for me at school.
He was mind linking Alpha Logan all day. He didn’t need to tell me that. I just knew that he was.
They would have seen me eating alone outside the school because I won’t go into the cafeteria. And I sit at the back of every class with Beta Levi now sitting in the chair right next to me.
I was getting a lot of weird looks that day, but it was just something else that I needed to ignore.
Everyone had to be wonderin-el.ng
why
the felt the Beta was stickine by my side every second of the day.
I got to my last class of the day when I was called to the office for some reason.
I left my class and I went to the office and the receptionist was waiting for me there.
“You have a call.” She said, handing me the phone.
“Hello.” I answered.
“Morgan. This is your mother’s boss at the diner.” He said.
“Yeah.” I said.
“Your mother just collapsed at work. She’s been taken to the hospital.” He said.
I threw the phone down and I ran out
of the office and down the hall until I reached the front door and straight outside and down the stairs without saying anything to anyone, Completely ignoring the pain in my ankle as I kept running.
