After I had a shower in that massive bathroom with a showerhead that was more like rain falling from the ceiling, I dried my hair and I got dressed into a loose fitting shirt and shorts.
The fireplace had warmed the room up really nicely and I climbed into bed.
I laid down and I immediately felt like I was sinking into the mattress. It was the most comfortable thing I had slept on in years.
It was hard not to just wrap myself up in those beautiful blankets and doze off to sleep.
When I woke up the next morning, the sun was shining through the window.
I looked at the clock and it said 9am. I couldn’t believe it. I haven’t slept in that late for as long as I can remember.
It was surreal.
Almost like the last several years hadn’t happened and I was back in a cozy bed again.
I woke up a couple times during the night, probably because it was a strange bed and a strange place for me. But I managed to get back to sleep.
But when I woke up in the morning I had the worst feeling in my stomach.
I wandered down to the kitchen to get a coffee and I had the biggest butterflies in my stomach.
“Morning. How did you sleep?” Nathan asked, coming into the kitchen.
“Really great. That bed is amazing.” I said.
“Really? I thought it was one of the cappier ones in the house.” He said.
“I’ve been sleeping on a couch for the last five years.” I said.
“Oh, well in that case. Yeah, that bed is pretty great.” He said. “Yeah.” I said.
“Are you alright? You look a little nervous or something.” He said.
“I’m very fucking nervous.” I said.
“You’re scared that he’s going to find you?” Nathan asked.
“Of course I am.” I said.
“It’s alright. You don’t need to be scared of him. Ezra isn’t going to let him know that you’re here. And if he comes snooping around, Ezra will deal with it. He’s not going to send you back to that place.” Nathan said.
“I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of me.” I said.
“And they’re not going to.” Ezra said, walking into the room.
“You don’t know that.” I said.
“Yeah, I do. I just got off the phone with Logan. He threatened me. He said that if you were here and I wasn’t telling him that he was going to rain hell down on us.” Ezra said.

“He already figured it out.” I said.
“He’s calling every pack that he can think of. He’s only threatening me because we spoke at that party.” He said.
“But he has no proof that you’re here. We were careful.” Nathan said.
“And my warrior said that you left a blood trail from a staged car accident in the woods.” Ezra said.
“I needed to slow him down somehow.” I said.
“That’s bloody brilliant. He doesn’t really think that you’re here then. He’s just making sure that no one has kidnapped you.” Ezra said.
“Don’t stress about it. Really. Now, what are we going to do today?” Nathan asked.
“I really want to go and check out that college campus.” I said.
“You can take her to do that. You know a lot of people there.” Ezra said to Nathan.
“Sure. I’ll be your tour guide.” Nathan said.
“I appreciate it.” I said.
I sat out the back to have a coffee and a cigarette.
There were several people that had passed the packhouse while I was sitting out
there and they were all eyeing me suspiciously.
I guess they weren’t used to seeing anyone different hanging around the packhouse.
When I went back inside I went to have a shower and I got dressed before I headed back downstairs and Nathan was waiting for me.
We left the packhouse and started walking through town.
It is a lot bigger than it seemed last night. Nathan wanted to walk so he could show me around, but usually we would need a car to get around the pack.
There were a lot of residential areas, but the houses weren’t built too close to each other. Not like they were back at home. But it was a nice and clean little town. I really liked it.
