Chapter 47
I was in full on panic mode after I heard that and I ran out of my room and Ezra was
downstairs with his Beta going over some paperwork or something.
“What’s wrong?” Ezra asked.
“I think something’s happened to my mother. Some stranger answered the phone
and said that he found it in a dumpster.” I said.
“Alright. Calm down. I’ll make some calls and try to find out.” He said.
“Who are you gonna call? Logan? He isn’t going to say shit to you.” I said.
“Don’t worry about it. I will see what I can find out.” Ezra said, going to the kitchen.
“Well, I’m Koda. The Beta.” He introduced.
“I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt anything down here.” I said.
“It’s alright. Ezra and Nathan told me all about you. I know why you’re here and if I was mated to that asshole I would have run away as well. So, welcome.” He said.
“Thank you.” I said.
It seemed like I had been waiting forever when Ezra finally came out of his office. “Did you find anything out?” I asked.
“I don’t know why the phone was in that dumpster. I’m not sure that it even was in a dumpster. But your mother is fine. I’ve got people in your pack that used to in mine. They told me that everything is fine. They checked on your mother and she’s at work.” He said. 1
And I let out a large sigh of relief.
“Thank you so much. Why the hell would she throw the phone away?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Maybe she was scared of getting caught with it or something like that.
I’m sure she’ll call you when she can.” He said.
“I hope so. She doesn’t have a phone of her own.” I said.
“I’ve asked my friends to keep an eye on her and to let me know if anything happens. As soon as I know anything then you will as well.” He said.
“Thank you.” I said.
So I was able to go back to my room and I tried to get some more work done, but my mind was racing. I needed to calm down before I got back into my school work.
I sat next to the window with a cigarette and I tried to imagine what mom would be doing right now. And her being at work sounded about right.
She was always working and I was just glad that Ezra knew people in my pack.
I’d never heard of anyone moving to our pack from the Midnight Pack. But that doesn’t mean anything. No one talks to me around my pack anymore, so anything was possible.

When I finally calmed down, I went back over to the desk and I got stuck into my school work again.
I needed to catch up on all of this work so I could start fresh next week and know what everyone was talking about.
But I was also going to be flooded with exams next week from all this work that I was doing now.
I felt a little overwhelmed, and whenever I started to feel like that I would take a little break and then get back into

I didn’t even realize until the sun started to rise that I had been up all night working and someone knocked on my door.
“Come in.” I sang out.
“Hey. I saw the light on. Did you sleep at all last night?” Ezra asked, from the doorway.
“No. No time. Gotta get this shit done.” I said.
“You also need to get some rest otherwise that work isn’t going to make any sense.” He said. 1
“I’ll be fine. I never slept much while I was back home. You’ll be surprised at how
well I can function with only a couple hours sleep.” I said.
“Alright. I hope so. At least come down for breakfast.” He said.
“Alright. I can do that.” I said.
So we both went downstairs to the dining room and the kitchen staff were just finishing off breakfast.
“Wow. This looks great.” I said.
“Yeah. I’ve got some really great staff working for me.” He said.
“I can see that.” I said, looking around at the packhouse staff.
“What is it?” He asked.
“You don’t treat them like omega’s.” I said.
“We don’t have titles around here. Except for myself and my beta. Everyone else
are just packmembers.” He said.
“I thought every pack had a ranking system.” I said.
“No. These people work here because its what they are qualified to do. That’s all there is to it. Not because they are less than anyone else.” He said.
“Wow. I’ve never been anywhere except my pack. I thought they were all like Logan.” I said.
“They are definitely not all like Logan. I don’t treat my pack members like that.” He said. And I smiled at him.
“Good to know.” I said.
We then heard some sneaking through the house and pretty soon Nathan stopped
in his tracks at the doorway of the dining room with some woman.
“Breakfast is reading once you say goodbye to your friend.” Ezra said, shaking his head.
“Right.” Nathan said, hurrying the woman to the door.

“I’m guessing that happens a lot around here?” i asked.
“He’s a man whore.” Ezra said. And I started laughing.
“Good to know. I’ll keep an eye out.” I said.
“It would probably be better to pouch your eyes out right now. I’ve walked in on some stuff that I can’t even describe. He doesn’t always leave his sexual exploits in his bedroom.” Ezra warned me.
“Oh crap. Does that mean I’ll be walking in on him and some woman whenever I get up in the middle of the night for a drink?” I asked.
“It’s possible.” He said.
“I’ll make sure I’ve got a glass in my bathroom. I can drink from that sink.” I said. And Ezra started laughing.
Nathan came back to the dining room and sat at the table with us when one of the cooks brought out his breakfast.
“So, what’s up man whore?” I asked, and Ezra almost choked on his food. 1 “Really? You’ve already passed on that nickname? I told you not to tell people that you call me that.” Nathan yelled at Ezra.
“I didn’t tell her to call you that.” Ezra defended himself. So Nathan just looked at me
and I was smiling wide at him.
“You’re a bitch.” He scoffed.
“I know. And you’re gonna grow to love it.” I taunted.
“What the hell have you gotten us into Ezra?” Nathan asked.
“I was just asking myself the same thing. But for some reason, I think I’m gonna love
it.” Ezra said.
“Oh, you will. Nathan probably won’t.” I said. And Ezra looked at Nathan with a wide smile as well.
“Oh shit.” Nathan said, hanging his head.
