Chapter 90
Logan was pretty determined that I was leaving his pack and he wasn’t getting off of my car. I needed to see my mother and make sure for myself that she was safe, so when Logan opened the passenger door of my car, I hesitated briefly before I got in and he got in the driver’s side.
We drove to the packhouse and he walked inside first and I followed him.
I looked around and nothing had changed. It all looked the same and even smelt the
same.
Logan started walking up the stairs, so I took a deep breath and I followed him to the third floor of the house.
He walked down the hallway and opened the bedroom door for me, so I walked inside and I saw my mother laying on the bed. The doctor was right next to her and she was so skinny and fragile. I couldn’t even imagine what was going on right now. When the doctor saw me, he walked over and we went out to the hallway to talk.
“What happened to her?” I asked, glaring at Logan.
“Don’t look at me. I’ve been taking care of her.” Logan said.
“Are you sure about that?” I asked.
“It’s nothing that anyone has done to her.” The doctor interrupted. “Honestly, this should have happened years ago. I’m surprised that she’s lasted this long.” He continued.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“Without her mate. The death of your father is finally catching up to her. She can’t get out of bed, she barely eats, she barely talks. Her soul is being crushed. That’s the only way to explain it.” The doctor explained.
“Her soulmate died. Her soul isn’t being crushed. She’s just losing what is left of it.” I said.
“Yeah.” The doctor said.
So I walked into the bedroom and I pulled a chair up next to the massive bed that looked like it was closing in around my mother. She looked so tiny in such a large bed.
I reached over to hold her hand and her head moved to the side to see me sitting there.
She looked like she was trying to smile, but it was too hard for her.
“It’s alright Mom. You don’t have to say anything. I just wanted you to know that I’m here.” I said.
“You shouldn’t have come back.” She whispered.
“Don’t worry about me. I’ll be alright. I wasn’t going to leave you alone like this.” I said.
“But you got out. You escaped him.” She said, glancing over at Logan.
“And he can’t pull me back in. Trust me. He’s not going to force me to stay. He can’t.” I insisted.
“He’s your mate.” She said.
“No. He isn’t. I rejected him. I have a life in a whole new pack. I want to take you there.” I said.
“I can’t leave your father. I want to be buried with him.”

“It’s only a matter of time. But you need to know something.” She said, but she sounded like she was starting to get out of breath.
“It’s alright. You don’t have to talk.” I said.
“Morgan. You need to know this.” She said.
“What?” I asked.
“Logan’s grandfather stole this pack from your grandfather. And Logan’s father killed your father. There was no rogue attack. That’s just what he made everyone believe.” She explained.
“I already know that. I found that out just after I left here. ” I said.
“You know?” She asked, surprised.
“Yeah. I know.” I said.
“You can’t let them get away with it.” She whispered.
“Logan’s dad died. I heard that he died.” I said.
“That’s what he made everyone believe. I’ve seen him around the packhouse. But
no one else knows that he’s here.” She said.
“The bastard that killed dad is still here?” I asked.
“Yes.” She whispered.
“Okay. Thank you for letting me know.” I said.
“There’s a war coming. You need to protect yourself.” She said.
