Chapter 91

“I know there is. Mom, you don’t need to worry about me. I promise.” I said.

“You always were a smart girl. Your father would be so proud.” She said, starting to cough and wheezing

“Just rest. It’s alright. I’ll still be here when you wake up.” I said.

It only took her moments to fall asleep and I sat there watching her for a little while.

When I left she was working her ass off and she was always tired. But now, she was something completely different. She had deteriorated so much. I couldn’t believe it when I looked at her.

I eventually left her room and Logan was in the hallway, but I ignored him and I walked down the hallway and down the stairs to the kitchen.

I saw the staff in there working, and I wasn’t surprised that he still had people

waiting on him hand and foot. Even if this place was meant to look like a ghost town right now.

But I walked over and started making a coffee.

As soon as Logan followed me into the room I noticed the staff started acting weird, a little twitchy and nervous.

I turned to look at him but he was just leaning against the wall.

“Why the hell are these people so scared of you?” I asked.

“Because I gave them a reason to be.” He said.

“You are such an asshole.” I said, turning back to make my coffee.

I ended up taking it out to the front veranda and I lit a cigarette.

“I thought you might have quit in the last five years.” He said.

“I did. But I knew that I would need them while I was here.” I said.

“Do you really hate me that much?” He asked. So I turned to face him and looked

him straight in the eye.

“Where’s your father?” I asked.

“He’s dead. Died a couple years ago.” Logan said.

“If that’s the way you want to play it.” I said, turning away from him.

“What does that mean? Did your mother say something? You know that she’s not really all there at the moment. She’s a little senile.” He said.

“She’s more together than you ever have been.” I said, looking at my watch.

“What are you waiting for?” He asked.

“Excuse me?” I asked.

“That’s the third time you’ve checked your watch in the last 10 minutes. Since you started making your coffee.”

He said.

“Oh, you’ll see.” I smirked at him. And I made sure that my hair was hanging over both of my shoulders so it was hiding the mark on my neck.

I wasn’t sure what he would do if he saw that mark. And I didn’t know if I would be strong enough to control him if he lost control over it.

Alpha’s are very territorial and they don’t like to share. Even though he knows that I rejected him, he would lose his mind if he knew that I was marked by someone else. “You know that you can’t keep me here. I don’t belong to this pack anymore.” I said.

“Is your new Alpha going to stand up for you? Are you actually that important to your new pack?” He asked.

“I guess we’ll find out. Where’s Penelope?” I asked.

“I don’t know. She’s around here somewhere.” He said.

“Probably with her boyfriend.” I said. And he looked at me strangely. Probably wondering how the hell I knew that.

But we were interrupted by the sound of a speeding car coming through town and Logan walked down the stairs to see what the hell was going on.

It wasn’t long before I saw the Black BMW speed up to the packhouse and screech

to a halt right out the front and Ezra got out.

“Alpha Ezra.” Logan said.

“Get the fuck away from my mate.” Ezra growled, canines already showing

Logan turned back to look at me, shock on his face, but I just stood there, with the same look on my face, watching both of them.
