Chapter 100

I was looking at Logan like he was onto something. He was staring at me like he had caught me. But honestly, werewolves are only pregnant for four months. So he didn’t have a leg to stand on.

“He’s five.” I said.

“We slept together five years ago.” He said.

“Yeah. And then I went to Ezra’s pack because we were friends and he promised me a safe haven. That’s when I realized that he was my second chance mate and we’ve been together since. I didn’t get pregnant until after that.” I explained, without hesitation.

Obviously I had thought about that answer before Paisley arrived here with the children. I just had to make sure that he didn’t know what Aiden’s birthday was.

I had already asked Ezra and Paisley to lie. And if we kept Aiden away from Logan, then it wouldn’t be a problem. And they promised me that he would never be alone with Logan.

“You’re absolutely telling me that Aiden isn’t mine?” Logan asked.

“Yeah. That’s what I’m telling you. He’s mine. And Ezra’s.” I said. Ezra adopted him when he was a baby, so that wasn’t a lie either.

“Alright. I just needed to hear it for myself.” He said.

“Well, you are the last person that should be questioning me right now.” I said.

“I know what people think of me…”

“Yeah. You’re a fucking murderer.” I said.

“And I know that people have asked you to come here and take this pack away from me.” He said.

“No. People have asked me to come here and kill you. Be thankful that I’m not those people.” I said, walking away.

I went to the dining room and Ezra was watching me, looking to make sure that I was alright. I just nodded at him and the cook brought out food for everyone.

As soon as we had lunch we spent a little more time with my mother before she fell asleep again and then we took the kids for a walk around the pack.

It was looking really deserted and not many people around.

But they people that were around were looking at me weird. I wasn’t sure what they were thinking,

I initially thought that it was because I was back and I was looking a lot better than before I left. But now I was starting to wonder if they were expecting me.

And with the way Bonnie and Cory have been acting, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the rumor going around.

We ended up walking towards the woods, but we were just talking and walking around with the kids. I wasn’t even really paying much attention to where we were going until I put my head up and I looked straight in front of me.

I stopped walking and both Ezra and Aiden looked at me while I stared at the

overgrown trailer in the middle of the woods.

“That’s not…” Ezra said.

“That’s where mom and I lived.” I said.

“It doesn’t look like anyone has been there for ages.” Ezra said.

“I know. I don’t think anyone has been living here since Logan forced mom to the packhouse.” I said.

I got the others to stay back while I walked up to the trailer and I tried to pull the door open but there were a lot of overgrown weeds and bushes in front of it so I needed to use a little bit of force, practically breaking the front door because it was so brittle.

I walked inside to the living area and immediately turned to look at the couch.

The same couch was against the far wall and my same blanket and pillow were on the couch. The same way I left them five years ago.

There was shrubbery and things growing inside the trailer, but I walked down the hallway to where my mother lived and there was ‘the bed’. The one that I would rather set on fire than to look at again.

I opened the wardrobe doors and a lot of my clothes and my mother’s clothes were still in there.

Time in this trailer had stood still for five years and it was a past reality check that I really didn’t need.

I walked through the trailer and back out the front door to where Ezra and the kids were waiting.

We went back to the packhouse and Ezra didn’t ask me about the trailer. He knew that I didn’t want to talk about it. And that was fine with me right now.

When we got back to the packhouse we played with the kids for a bit and then spent some time with mom.

We even took our dinner up to her room and ate with her while the nurse was there. The nurse didn’t seem to like it, but she didn’t say anything and if she did I would have just told her where to go.

I wanted to spend as much time with my mother right now as possible. No nurse was going to stop me from doing that.

After dinner we had to bathe the kids and get them ready for bed.

We pulled out Savannah’s portable cot and placed it next to our bed and we had a rollaway bed for Aiden to sleep

Once the kids were asleep Ezra and I went to have a shower and we tried to be as quick as possible but that didn’t happen.

When we finally got out of the bathroom we got dressed and Ezra got into bed.

I left the room and I went downstairs towards the kitchen to get a drink when I heard something strange down the basement.

It wasn’t the same as the dungeon. This was a separate room under the house.

I waited for a minute and I didn’t hear it again, so I assumed that I was hearing things.

But as I was walking to the fridge, I heard it again.

I put my cut down on the bench and I walked over to the basement door.

I opened it slowly and I started walking down the stairs.

When I got to the bottom, I found the light switch but it was glitchy and it was not very bright.

I looked around for a little while and there were things piled up everywhere.

Some of that stuff looked like it had been there for years. Like no one had literally cleaned out the basement in a couple of decades.

So I walked around a few piles of things in the basement before I saw something shining off the side of the room

I went around a couple other piles of crap and I saw the top of the cage under a covered window.

I walked closer to it and it was mostly dark down there until suddenly some strange creature with no fur, a really pale color and sharp teeth all around his mouth jumped at the side of the caged and scared me so much that I jumped backwards and knocked tall stack of boxes and I managed to grab the wall beside me and to keep myself steady.

“What the fuck are you?” I asked, in completely and utter shock.
