We could hear the wolves leaping up and grabbing them off the side of the house, but that didn’t do much.

We heard glass breaking upstairs and I turned around and ran for the stairs again with Ezra right behind me.

We started searching through all of the rooms but it wasn’t on the second floor.

I looked at Ezra in a panic and we both ran to the third floor and I ran straight to my mother’s room but Paisley and the kids weren’t there.

The window was broken and the furniture was pushed away from the window.

Suddenly something grabbed me from behind and I quickly pushed backwards so it hit the wall behind us and I grabbed his disgusting gray arms and tried to pull them off of me. But it dug its very long claws into my sides and I screamed in pain.

I threw my head back and headbutted it, it grunted and its grip on me loosened, so I was able to get free.

I turned to face it and it had a menacing smirk on its face. But my canines started to retract and my claws came out of my fingernails.

“I’ve got the kids. They’re safe.” Ezra mind linked me.

So I charged at the creature and dug my claws into its skin. It whimpered at the initial impact, but when I pulled my claws out, its wounds healed immediately and it looked at me like it was completely unfazed.

It charged at me and tackled me to the ground and while it was on me trying to hold my arms on either side of my head, I realized that it wasn’t trying to kill me.

So I managed to pull one of my arms across the front of me while its hand still had a hold of it and I threw my head up and headbutted it again.

That threw it off balance and I grabbed it by the side of its head and pulled its head down towards me and I sunk my teeth into its neck, ripping a large chunk out of its neck.

It put its hand over the wound and climbed off of me.

I got to my feet and I was expecting that wound to heal up really quickly as well, but

it didn’t. It fell back on the ground, gargling and it started making all sorts of weird noises before its eyes changed color and they went white, like they were completely glassed over and it stopped moving.

I walked over to its body with caution and I could tell that it wasn’t breathing. It was dead.

Logan said that they didn’t know how to kill it. So how the hell did I kill it by biting it.

I then turned around and I saw my mother lying on the ground. She wasn’t moving either.

She had a small knife in her hand, like she was trying to fight it off. Probably so the kids could get out of the room. But that thing got the best of her.

She wasn’t even strong enough to get out of bed. Let alone fight. But she died protecting her grandkids.

I knelt down beside her body and I closed her eyes. She looked peaceful. More peaceful than she had looked in

years.

Ezra came into the room and saw me, so he walked up beside me and kneeled down beside me.

He didn’t say anything. He just put his arm around me.

I started sniffling, but I tried to stop it. But when he pulled me into his side I couldn’t stop the tears from falling down my face. I couldn’t stop the emotions that just came to the surface. It was probably the first time Ezra had ever seen me cry like that. And he just held me close, not saying anything. Just being there for me.
