Chapter 108
When we went inside and sat around the kitchen table, Ezra grabbed a couple more beers for myself and him. But he never once offered one to Bonnie and he never even looked at her either.
I don’t blame him really. She was his mate and she rejected him so she could be with a vampire. That would have been a big kick in the ego for an Alpha. But then he found me, his second chance mate, and I believe that I am doing a really good job.
“Alright. So, you’ve heard about the first vampire.” Sergio said.
“Yeah. Unfortunately.” I said.
“What have you heard?” He asked. So I showed them the photo of the creature in the basement and Sergio’s face changed. It almost looked like he didn’t believe us until he saw the photo for himself.
“We were attacked by a group of these bastards last night. They killed Morgan’s mother.” Ezra said.
“How many?” Sergio asked.
“Dozens. We didn’t count.” Ezra said.
“You need to evacuate this pack. If they are attacking you here then they will come back. They don’t attack unless they want something.” Sergio said.
“We already know what they want. And they aren’t going to stop until they get it. Which means we have to kill them all.” I said.
“They can’t be killed.” Cory said.
“Morgan killed one last night.” Ezra said. And they all looked at me very strangely. “How?” Cory asked.
“We’re asking the questions. What are they?” I asked. And Cory and Sergio looked at each other.
“They are monsters. Obviously. They are the result of being directly bitten by the first vampire. If those vampires then went on to bite people and turn them into vampires then they are the ones that evolved. But never the ones directly bitten by the first.” Sergio explained.
“Is the first vampire still alive?” I asked.
“We believe so. But no one knows where. If he is alive then he has these things doing his bidding for him. And if he’s not alive, they are obviously still working as a pack, together” Cory said.
“Where would the first vampire call home?” I asked.
“He was originally from Italy. But there have been reports throughout the years of
him being spotted in London, Spain, South America.” Sergio asked.
“Where’s the last sighting?” Ezra asked.
“It was a long time ago.” Sergio said.
“That’s not what he asked.” I said. So Sergio looked at Cory.
“Chicago.” Cory said.

“He’s in this fucking county and you never thought to mention it?” I asked. “That was the last sighting of him and it was 200 years ago.” Sergio said.
Ezra and I looked at each other and he started mind linking me about how I killed that one vampire and how I promised that other one in the basement that I was going to find out other ways to kill them. But I was hesitant about doing that. I thought that we would need more test subjects if I was going to start experimenting on ways to kill them.
“What is going on?” Cory asked.
“You said that Morgan killed one last night.” Bonnie said. But Ezra still wouldn’t look at her.
“That’s right. I did.” I said.
“How?” Cory asked. And I looked at Ezra again.
“Are you sure you can trust them?” Ezra asked, outloud this time.
“I don’t know. They wanted me to come here and kill Logan because they believed that he was the one killing the humans.” I said.
“Wait a minute, he’s not?” Cory asked.
“No. These things are. Which means they are held up pretty close to hear.” I said.
“They can move pretty fast. They can be anywhere in the area. But still miles away.” Sergio said.
“I know. The same as you.” I said.
“How did you kill that vampire?” Cory asked.
“I bit it.” I admitted. And they looked at me really confused. I could see that they were trying to figure out how the hell that happened, but they couldn’t make sense of it.
“Werewolves and vampires alike have tried to kill them in the past. Nothing has worked. They have been hit with every kind of weapon and they always survive. They’ve definitely been bitten before, but that has never killed them.” Sergio said.
“My mother told me, before she died, that it’s not the first time they have come after me. They’ve come after me in the past, when I was young. I don’t know why. She claimed that she didn’t know why. But there’s something about me that makes them interested in me. And I managed to kill the bastard by biting it.” I said.
They looked at each other in utter surprise and I could tell that they were speechless.
“What’s this? Having a meeting in my packhouse, without me.” Logan asked, walking into the room.
“Well, you threw a tantrum earlier and went to your room. I figured you needed a little time out.” I mocked him.
“It’s a pretty important meeting. Maybe it would have been nice if you told me that you killed one of those things. I caught one and it’s in the basement. Why the hell are you keeping this shit from me?” Logan asked.
“Easy. I don’t like you.” I said.
Ezra had to take a sip of his beer to stop from smiling and I could see the others facing away from him, doing the same thing. Trying not to smile.
“This is still my pack.” He said.

“Don’t think I won’t kill you. Especially after what you did this morning.” I said.
“That warrior deserved it.” Logan said.
“Keep telling yourself that.” I said, getting up and going to the kitchen.
I grabbed another beer and I went back to the dining room and sat down with the others.
“Alright. We need to come up with a plan. We need to find where they are hiding. We need to figure out how to capture one or two of them without being attacked by the others.” Ezra said.
“That sounds pretty complicated.” Bonnie said.
“I’ve caught one before. I’m sure I can do it again.” Logan said, sitting down.
“Are you sure it wasn’t just a fluke?” I asked.
“I’m positive. I used one of the pack members as bait.” He said. And I slammed my
beer bottle on the table, getting everyone’s attention.
“Are you fucking serious?” I asked.
“It was the only way to catch it. And the kid was safe.” He said.
“Kid?” I asked.
“Yeah. A 5 year old in the pack.” He said. And I got up so fast that the chair fell back
on the ground.
I was about to go after Logan when Ezra got up and grabbed me around the waist to stop me from attacking him again.
I wanted to kill him after hearing that. But he also jumped up from the table, but he
backed away from me and fell back against the wall.
“It’s alright. Settle down.” Ezra said.
“I don’t want to settle down. I want to kill the fucker.” I yelled.
“I know. But you can’t right now. We might still need him.” Ezra said.
So I calmed down and took a step back, but Ezra kept his arm around my waist in
case I tried to go after him again.
“Fine. But this time, I’m the bait.” I insisted.
