Chapter 141
Elara sat in the cold chair, her gaze dark and unpredictable as she stared back at the officer who looked her in the eyes.
“Are you aware why you have been called here, Miss Elara?” the officer asked.
Elara looked at the officer for a few seconds before nodding.
“Yes. I have been summoned because you guys have been paid by Sean Turner’s father to interrogate me about the night when Sean kidnapped me and wanted to rape me. After all, it’s much easier to bully a woman who doesn’t have an influential background,” Elara answered, leaning back in her seat.
She was having a nice meal that Daniel cooked for her when her phone vibrated with an incoming call from the police station.
Apparently, Sean’s father filed a report and a plea for her interrogation.
While she knew those were just words, the man probably wanted to torture her until the truth was out.
Daniel said he would deal with the matter and she didn’t need to go there, but she wanted to. She wanted to show Sean’s father that she wasn’t someone he could mess with just because he doubted her involvement with his son’s death.
Besides, she has been taking Daniel’s help quite a lot.
Now that her divorce was finalized, she wasn’t really wary of exposing her identity as a Frost. Let them do their investigation. She wasn’t in the wrong.
While Macros was not the one to trifle with, the Frosts were no less.
Even she wanted to see how Sean’s father would handle the wrath of the Frosts.
“Miss Elara, that’s not what we are trying to do here. We just want to know the truth. After all, a life has been lost. You must show some sympathy,” the officer said.
Elara smiled.
“Honestly speaking, I don’t give two fucks about Sean’s death. Sympathy as a human? I would’ve definitely shown that to an innocent one, but not a man whose morals are so corrupted. And do you know who is more corrupt? The police officials who know the truth are still haunting the victim of the incident,” Elara said.
The officer’s expression turned ugly after being called out like that.
“Miss Elara, this is no way to talk to an on-duty officer. Do you know I can keep you in prison for your language?” The officer asked.
Elara nodded before she looked at the glass partition.
“That man, Sean’s father, is standing there and watching everything. Right?” she asked.
When she was met with silence, her suspicions strengthened.
“Mr. Turner, I told you clearly I had nothing to do with Sean’s death when you came to meet me. However, you wouldn’t listen. I warned you about looking into someone who would benefit, but you ignored it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Elara said.
Sean’s father, who had been listening to the girl’s reckless words from behind the partition, immediately walked to the door and opened it with rage.
“You! I know you killed Sean. You were the reason everything happened in the first place. Tell me what you did to him!” Sean’s father reached for her.
“Sir! You can’t be here. Sir, you need to leave.” Two officers rushed to stop Sean’s father, but Elara noticed how atrociously respectful they were being, and she couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Did you see that, Elara? These officers who are acting so righteous won’t even hold back an old man from attacking the victim whom his son wanted to rape,” Elara said to herself.
The officers looked at her with suspicion.
Was the girl finally losing her mind?
Sean’s father pushed one of the officers and walked to Elara before wrapping his hands around her throat.
“I will kill you. No victim acts like this. There’s not even a hint of fear in your eyes. Your eyes are those of a criminal,” the man seethed through his teeth.
And Elara, she smiled widely before she did something that even the officers hadn’t expected her to do.
She grabbed the man’s hand before pushing him back, slapping him hard across his face. She pulled one of the officer’s guns and pointed it at the man.
“Now, if I shoot, will it be considered self-defense, sir?” Elara asked casually.
Everyone immediately became alert and pulled out their guns, pointing them at Elara.
“Miss, please drop the gun. This is not how this should be handled. We are taking Mr. Turner out,” the officer assured her.
Elara hummed.
At the same time, the chief of police, who had been informed that someone had been brought in for questioning when Daniel called him, rushed inside the interrogation room, his eyes widening.
“What the hell is going on?” He asked.
The officers, surprised to see their chief, immediately let go of Sean’s father and saluted him.
“Sir, we called in Miss Elara for interrogation p>
“Take him out!” The chief of police said to the officers who pulled Sean’s father out of the room to the adjacent room.
“Sir, Mr Turner became violent and rushed here to choke Miss Elara p>
“Choke who?” They all heard an unfamiliar voice, and everyone turned to look at the person standing there, his stance radiating dominance.
“I asked, choke who?” The old man asked.
“Me,” Elara tossed the gun to the officer casually before she walked to the old man.
“Why did you come here, grandfather?” She asked with pursed lips.
The chief of police, who was already sweating because of Daniel’s call, looked at the army’s general with admiration and respect before Elara’s words sank in.
What did she say? Grandfather? Was the army general this woman’s grandfather? If that was the case, then she was… The chief of police connected the dots and took a deep, shaky breath.
“Sir, we are sorry for the misunderstanding. They just wanted to call Miss Elara to write her statement officially for the interrogation. Nobody wanted things to turn out like this,” the chief of police said.
“And I am a fool who doesn’t understand what’s going on here,” the old man said before he nodded at his subordinate, who bowed to Elara before directing her out to their car.
“If I hear someone tried to harass my daughter again, I’ll personally lead a tank here and destroy this station. How dare you treat a victim like a culprit?! I will see to it that this incident reaches the highest commands,” the old man said before he left without even hearing what the officers had to say.
Once the old man left, the chief of justice wiped the sweat from his forehead, swallowing hard.
“What have you guys done? Who asked you to act on your own accord? I told you this was a high-profile case and needed to be handled with delicacy. Now, who will take the blame for the social war that is awaiting this city?” the chief of police asked.
“But sir, who is she p>
“Didn’t you hear him? He called her his granddaughter. She is the future heiress of the Frost family and future wife of Macros’ heir.” The chief of police explained, making the officers swallow hard.
