Chapter 143

The next day, Elara appeared on set in a casual pair of jeans, a top, a shrug, and boots that reached her knees, looking elegant and beautiful, like one of those classy ladies from movies.

And though she appeared beautiful, she definitely stood out from other actors and actresses who were dressed nicely, even in dresses that showed how rich and elegant they were.

“Elara, you made it in time,” Beatrice said as she walked to her.

Elara, who was wondering where to go and sit, looked at Beatrice in a body-hugging dress and couldn’t help but smile.

“Your words almost make it sound like you were hoping I would be late for my very first shoot. Huh, don’t tell me your plan of keeping me in jail overnight failed.” Elara looked directly in her eyes.

Beatrice, who had been smug earlier, found it hard to maintain her smile.

Elara faked a gasp.

“Oh my, I was just making a wild guess after all; you were Sean’s best friend. Don’t tell me it’s true,” She said.

Beatrice stretched her lips into a forced smile.

“Of course not. Why would I want that? Anyway, Good luck with your first day. It can be overwhelming,” Beatrice said before she walked away.

Elara suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. She knew Beatrice was there just to make her day touch to go with.

She looked around and noticed how a few females were already looking at her with contempt, probably there to lick Beatrice’s ass since the Primary investor introduced her.

She shook her head and walked to the producer when he asked everyone to gather.

The script had already been mailed to everyone, and she spent quite a bit of time learning and revising the lines so she wouldn’t mess them up.

The role she was given was a bit tacky, since she had to portray a girl in a wealthy household who was neglected in her life as the fake heiress.

The first song of the drama was sung by her when she was beaten black and blue by the fake heiress and pushed down the stairs, and she was locked up in a storage room by her brothers for even trying to tell them the truth.

In everyone’s eyes, the fake heiress was a white lotus who could do nothing in their eyes.

And funnily, the friend who would push her down the stairs for the fake heiress was played by Carla. Yes, she got a small role as a friend, along with being the assistant singer.

Elara didn’t have a good feeling about it and was wondering if she should already wear protective pads, just in case she took the fall too hard.

As if the producer understood what was going on inside her head, he walked to her.

“Don’t worry, Elara. We will tie you with ropes, which will lift you a little, and your body won’t hit the stairs for real. A mattress will be placed on the bottom floor for the smooth landing,” the producer explained, knowing this was her first time acting, and she was here just for the singing.

Though these were side roles, they were crucial to the drama as well.

“I hope it goes well,” Elara didn’t elaborate, and the man nodded.

“So in the first part, you’ll have to act in love with the third male lead, the one the fake heiress is in love with,” The producer explained.

Elara nodded and went into the makeup room to get ready for her role.

She noticed that none of the makeup artists were free to do her makeup, and even the second female lead and Beatrice, who had their scenes later, were sitting in the chairs, getting their makeup done.

Elara knew she was going to face something like this when she decided to go against Beatrice in the same drama, but revenge was a petty thing.

As forgiving as she was, she wasn’t going to forgive them, Beatrice or Andrew or anyone who made her life a living hell, especially for the loss of her baby.

Thus, she was ready to ensure everything and rise and defeat Beatrice at her own game.

She got into her costume, which consisted of an old, torn gown, and walked in front of the large mirror at the side before ruffling her hair.

She grabbed a free eyeshadow palette from the side and smudged a little brown eyeshadow under her eyes to look poor yet beautiful.

“Is everyone ready for the role? The director is calling the artists for scene 28. The crew member walked to the entrance of the tent, and Elara turned around before applying a little foundation to her lips to make them look a bit chapped and dry.

Once she found her reflection presentable for the drama, she walked out of the tent.

Carla walked to where she had been standing, then leaned in to whisper in her ear.

“Good luck with the act,” Carla said, and Elara looked at her with a smile.

“Good luck with the singing. Oops, I forgot, you never got that main part. You’ll have to walk in my path, no?” Elara smiled before she walked to the center and looked at Mason, who walked out from his vanity can.

Since he was running late, he had gone straight to his van to get ready.

“Hey, so you are in love with me. I wonder how I should reciprocate the feelings,” Mason winked at her, talking about their scene, and Elara rolled her eyes.

Beatrice looked at Elara’s smile, her eyes turning dark.

It was okay. She must bear it. After all, some things need perfect timing.

In her eyes, she was letting Elara enjoy this time so she could ruin it for her later.

“I seriously can’t bear the sight of her smiling like this. All I want to do is tear her face off,” Carla gritted out.

Beatrice looked at Carla and nodded.

“Don’t worry. The drama provides you with the perfect opportunity to do so,” Beatrice smirked.

Carla looked at the woman before her lips lifted upwards when she understood what Beatrice meant.
