Chapter 172: Logan’s punch

“What’s going on? Why is my sister called in for interrogation? Do you guys think we Frosts would hold back and keep bearing you guys defaming and tormenting my sister just because the Turners pressured you?” George asked.

His loud voice reached Elara, who was inside the interrogation room, her lips stretching upwards, knowing how angry he was.

“Mr. George, please calm down. We are not working under anyone’s influence. We got a tip and found the evidence in her bag.” The cop tried to calm George, and the latter only scoffed at them.

“Did you check the prior messages made to and fro from that number?” George asked.

The cops looked at each other to see if anyone had done that.

When no one answered immediately, George chuckled darkly.

He was about to speak more when Sean’s father rushed inside the office despite being stopped by the guards outside.

“Where is that bitch? I am asking: where is that bitch who was so confident earlier?! She killed my son. I knew it. Now that I think about it, she was probably having an affair with my son behind her husband’s back.

All that kidnapping and rape was just a drama orchestrated by her. She must’ve killed my son because her secret was about to be exposed,” Sean’s father shouted from outside.

“Sir, please wait outside. Don’t make this hard for us. We are doing our investigation. Your interference is only making it impossible for us to find the truth.” The cops tried to pull him back.

“What did he say, George? What happened to my daughter?” Logan, who had been sitting behind, letting his son handle the matter because George asked him to, stood from his place.

Sean’s father’s words only made things more complicated, and George looked towards the officer for answers.

This only made everyone realize that Elara’s family didn’t even know what had happened, and it also confirmed how bad things were about to get.

Elara, sitting inside the interrogation room, wanted to step out to meddle and ask her father not to worry about anything, but her wrist was handcuffed to the table, and she couldn’t even move.

“My son kidnapped your daughter and tried to rape her. That was what she said to the cops, and—” Sean’s father couldn’t complete his sentence when Logan raised his hand and punched him hard across the face.

Logan looked at his fist when Sean’s father fell on the ground.

“I still got it in me,” He said to himself proudly, while George didn’t know what to say.

Why? Because he wanted to do the same.

“Sir, this is a police station! Please don’t violate the rules, or we will be forced to detail you two.” The station chief walked to the office area and looked at the two prominent businessmen with a grim expression.

He had asked his officers to handle this sensitive case with the utmost care and precision, but it looks like they failed.

“You!” Sean’s father stood with the officers’ help but said nothing further.

Logan looked into the chief’s eyes.

“If anything happened to my daughter because you guys couldn’t do your job right, I’ll tear this station apart, and believe me when I say I can do it,” Logan said.

He walked to the interrogation room to meet his daughter, wanting to tell her that her father would make everything right, but one thought about how she didn’t even tell him about the abuse, probably because she didn’t want to worry him, made him stop.

No. Promises weren’t enough. He would ensure his daughter comes out of this case unscathed. Logan thought to himself before leaving.

George wanted to stop Logan from asking why he wasn’t meeting Elara, but Candice held his hand.

“Give him some time,” Candice said to the man, and he sighed before nodding to himself.

“I want to meet my sister,” George said to the officer, who nodded and took him to the interrogation room.

The first thing that George noticed when he entered was Elara’s hand cuffed to the table, and his gaze wavered as he looked at his sister, who was still smiling, probably trying to be strong for him and everyone.

And the thought that the girl who needed comfort was trying her best to comfort others with her smiles broke his heart, and he walked to her before hugging her, catching Elara off guard.

“Hey. What are you doing? Don’t treat me like I am a child who is afraid and will cry—”

“Shut up. Shut up and act like how you want for once. Must you always act so tough and like you can take on all the problems in the world with a smile? Cry if you want to. I am here. Your family is here,” George interrupted her, and Elara’s eyes brimmed with tears immediately.

All the frustration she had been holding onto spilled, and her facade of being strong crumbled in a second.

A single rogue tear dropped from her eyes, followed by the next and then the next.

Her body trembled from trying to contain her pain and cries, and George hugged her tighter.

“Why, brother George? Why can’t I have one peaceful day in my life? Even when I was the one who suffered the most, I am being called a murderer.

I wanted to sing and make my reputation again after my husband cheated on me and I left him, but with these tumors and scandal, who will allow me to act or sing in their drama?” Elara cried, and George caressed her hair, not asking her to stop or saying that everything would be alright.

For once, he wanted her to cry out loud, to take out all the emotions she had been hiding from the world.

At the same time, Andrew, who had seen everything because he had seen Sean’s father enter the station earlier and had followed him, looked at Elara crying in George’s arms, his heart aching at the sight.

After all, he was one of the protagonists among the people who made life hard for her.

Candice stood at the entrance of the interrogation room, letting the sister and brother have their moment before she finally stepped forward.

After what felt like an eternity, Elara finally started to calm down and sniffed, rubbing her nose on George’s coat like a baby, earning herself a chuckle from everyone around her while George sighed and tucked her hair behind her ears.

“I will not let anything happen to my sister. No matter how hard it becomes, I’ll put an entire search team for the evidence and put petitions to the court that the police didn’t do their work properly,” George assured his sister before he walked out to talk to the cops and see the investigation properly.

Elara wiped her eyes, furrowing her brows when she felt something soft on her skin, and opened her eyes to see Candice standing there with her handkerchief in her hand.

“Hey, how long have you been here for? I am sorry you have to see that,” Elara said, and Candice’s gaze softened at the girl.

“I am your best friend. How long were you planning on hiding your pain from me?” She asked.

Elara looked down, ashamed.

She was one of the people who always tried their best to be available to everyone, but when it came to themselves, they thought asking for help was like troubling others.

“What are you doing here?” Elara asked before she narrowed her brows.

“You came with my brother, didn’t you? He has gone for a meeting in the suburbs, which wasn’t connected to drone technology at all. But you still came with him. How long has this been going on for?” Elara asked, and Candice’s cheeks turned red, strengthening Elara’s suspicion.

“I… I…” Candice stuttered, and Elara smiled.

“Relax. I knew about it for a long time. I am happy for you and definitely approve of you guys,” Elara said, not adding much as she looked at the red mark that was forming on her skin due to the handcuff.

“Miss Elara, you are good to go. We will hold the interrogation once we have properly looked into it. Sorry for the trouble.” The station chief walked into the interrogation room, his attitude confusing her.

“Here is your phone.” The man placed her phone on the table, and it vibrated immediately.

A single message popped up on the screen.

“Why didn’t you call me?”

It was a small question, but it held all the care and love in the world for her, and her heart was filled with warmth.

This was exactly what he meant: he would take care of her no matter where he was. Elara thought, her eyes brimming with tears again.
