Chapter 2

Amelia groaned.

The rain was pouring heavily as she walked through the forest, trying to find the way out.

Her memories were supposed to help her find a way since she also went through these woods in her last life.

But her dumb ass was so smitten with Alpha Killian that rather than focusing on what path they took to bring her out, she was focused on his eyes.

Amelia took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

This won’t do. She must focus and believe in her senses to take the right path.

“Mmmm,” A weird sound resounded from her left direction. It was faint but distinct amidst all the sounds around her.

’So my conscience wants me to take the left direction,’ Amelia smiled at her thoughts before turning to the left direction.

She kept following the path, her brows knitting when she heard the same sound again, just a little louder.

She clearly didn’t ask her conscience to give her another signal.

“Uhhh! Damn!” The sound grew louder.

Amelia shook in her place, startled.

This sounded like a man’s groan.

Amelia stepped forward cautiously. Whoever this person was was definitely in a lot of pain from the sound.

It was hard to see through the pouring rain, but she blinked her eyes furiously and walked to him.

There before her, supported on a tree, was a man, his hand pressing against his abdomen as a pool of blood collected around him.

The scene reflected what she remembered before dying. It felt like deja vu. How could this be possible?

It was like seeing the alpha king getting hurt because of her, and tears welled in her eyes.

However, this man… this man was no alpha king.

Who was he?

“Hey, are you alright?” Amelia stepped ahead cautiously, ensuring she wouldn’t slip and fall.

The man looked up, his brownish-hazel eyes almost sizing her up and down.

“I am having the time of my life. There is a tea party going on here. Can you see it?” the man snapped, and Amelia chuckled awkwardly.

She brought it upon herself. He was not alright. That question was downright stupid.

But wait. How dare he look down on her? She came here to help him, not the other way around.

“Well, if you have to be sarcastic, good luck finding help here,” Amelia scoffed and gave up on helping him.

The man groaned, probably in a lot of pain before hissing.

Amelia wanted to leave, but as a practicing healer, how could she turn around when she saw a wounded man like this?

’I might as well treat him just this time to celebrate my rebirth,’ Amelia clenched her teeth and glared at the man.

She walked to him.

The man who had closed his eyes, opened them sharply again, looking at her with his sharp cautious gaze but not stopping her from what she was trying.

“We can’t do anything here. We need to find a place to hide. The rain is making things worse,” Amelia said before she helped the man up.

The man didn’t object and took her help until they reached a little cave under a mountain.

It was probably the most unsafe place due to its position, but this was their only resort.

Amelia didn’t waste a single second. She opened her bag, which luckily fell along with her, and took out the little herbs that she had been collecting earlier.

This man was really lucky. How come she had the right kind of herbs at the right time?

The man probably had the same question but didn’t voice it out.

“You are lucky that my schoolmates turned out to be selfish, self-obsessed, narcissists, who left me to die here when I fell in the ditch. Or who would’ve helped you?” Amelia asked a hint of self-mockery in her voice.

The man didn’t say anything and just kept following her every move.

“By the way, who are you? And what the hell were you doing here?” Amelia asked as she applied the mashed leaves to the man’s wounds.

“I am the alpha king,” The man said.

“You are not the alpha king,” Amelia rolled her eyes.

She would recognize that man who gave up his life for hers, even in a crowded room.

“Exactly. It’s not like you would know everyone in this nation,” The man commented.

Amelia scoffed internally.

If she weren’t so good-willed, no one would’ve helped a narcissist like him, either.

“You are one of a kind,” of a jerk. Amelia didn’t say the last words and took a deep breath once done.

She noticed the rain had stopped, and the clouds were starting to clear.

The sun was rising, bright enough for her to move again, probably indicating a bright chance to live again.

She slung her bag on her shoulder before looking at the mysterious man again.

“You owe me for helping you,” Amelia said, ready to leave.

“Where are you going?” The man finally asked something from her; this time, it was her time to scoff.

“You have been treated. You don’t expect me to stay with you, do you?” Amelia said.

“Take me with you,” The man said resolutely.

It looked like he was finally willing to trust her.

“You can’t walk. It’s already swampy out there. I don’t want you to drag me,” Amelia narrowed her eyes.

“I can walk,” the man said, determined, and Amelia sighed.

She nodded at the end, and they started walking through the forests.

She heard his occasional gruff but no complaints whatsoever.

After walking for eternity, they finally saw a clearing.

Amelia knew her way from here.

“You should be able to find some help from here,” Amelia told the man.

“What’s your name?” The man asked before she could leave.

“I am the future queen of the werewolf world,” Amelia said, and the man scoffed.

“As if,” He said.

Amelia blinked her eyes innocently.

“Exactly. It’s not like you would know every female in the nation p>

She repeated his words before leaving, not once looking back.

Surprisingly, she saw Alpha Killian’s beta talking to someone after walking some distance.

As if he felt her presence, he turned to look at her, a slight disbelief evident in his eyes.

“Amelia, you are safe,” Joseph walked to her.

In her last life, she used to smile in gratitude even if someone asked how she was. But who would’ve thought that these concerned remarks were all fake inside out?

Joseph wasn’t a bad person, but after a couple of months, he became one of the active members of Hannah and Killian’s gang, who went out of his way to make her life worse because of what happened to his sister.

Though Amelia didn’t blame him entirely, it didn’t mean she deserved what happened to her either.

“Why? Did you guys expect me to be dead in that forest just because you guys left me alone, even after knowing how dangerous it was?” Amelia asked, blinking her eyes softly.

Joseph froze in his place. He suddenly felt short of words.
