Everything felt blurry and heavy.
Her head buzzed with a weird ache, and Amelia groaned, trying to turn on her side.
However, no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t move her body.
Why did it feel like a large rock was lying on her? Like a huge but soft rock that was breathing…in her ears? And why was her entire body tingling when she was moving?
Amelia’s eyes flew wide open at the realization.

Amelia shied away from near the bed and took a quick shower, dressing in one of the spare dresses already in the almirah.
Once done, she looked at the man one last time before walking to him.
Her hands hovered over his face but retreated. She didn’t always see this man sleeping carelessly.
As she descended the stairs, the first person she met happened to be Former Alpha King Grayson, who was walking with his subordinate.
“Good morning, Grandpa,” Amelia blinked her eyes softly, the cute smile plastered on her face.
The old man looked at the girl, remembered how their security failed to protect her, and smiled apologetically.
“Can you spare me some time, Princess Amelia?” He asked.
Amelia nodded.
The man looked at his subordinate before taking her to the tea room.
Amelia looked at the floor-to-ceiling windows, which showed a marvelous view of the garden with a variety of flowers, and smiled.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.
“You think so? Cyrus’s mother was the one who planted them,” Grayson said with a fond expression.
Amelia turned to look at the former alpha king and thinned her lips.
The man smiled when he mentioned the lady, but Cyrus hated his mother passionately.
He hated her so much that even mentioning her name was forbidden in the palace or anywhere near him.
What could’ve happened for him to be like that?
“I know what you are thinking,” Grayson said.
“You know?” Amelia asked.
Grayson chuckled.
“I didn’t rule this kingdom with zero intellect. The question is written all over your face,” Grayson chuckled and motioned for her to sit around the table.
Amelia blushed at his words before sitting like a lady, her hands clasped on her lap, her knees turned to her right side, and her pointed ankles remained elegant.
“It’s a complicated story. Cyrus’s mother, Gloria, was our house’s glory after she married Sebastian. She was so beautiful and kind that I used to feel I married my son to an angel,” Grayson said with a dreamy look.
He told her how Cyrus’s father was madly in love with Gloria, and he even announced that everything that belonged to him would belong to Gloria, no matter the customs.
He went to the extent of placing her throne above his. He said he was a slave to his queen before becoming King of the kingdom.
They used to laugh at it, but their love was an example set and spoken about like folk tales.
They didn’t fall in love immediately. They started as enemies. Gloria wasn’t a werewolf. She was a fairy. A fallen fairy that Sebastian had found when he was on a hunt for rogues.
He said that one look at her was enough to tell him she was his mate. It was hard for him to believe since she was a fairy, and he thought that she was bewitching him with her beauty and powers.
But slowly, their clashes started to decrease, and they were inseparable the next thing they knew.
Gloria was like a ray of sunshine for the Kingdom. She used to love planting flowers and helping the poor.
Grayson hadn’t seen a kinder woman than her.
However, just because she was good didn’t mean people used to praise her only. She attracted many evil eyes upon herself.
Even Dominic’s wife used to hate her.
But that woman, despite the hatred, always spread kindness.
Maybe the evil eye got to them. When Gloria conceived Cyrus, Sebastian distributed one lakh silver coins to the people. Their happiness was beyond anything.
And why not? The kingdom wasn’t about to get one but two kids.
Gloria was pregnant with twins. But the fate didn’t show her any mercy, and it turned out that she was a victim of a destiny, an ambush planned long ago against her.
On the night she gave birth to Cyrus, no one knows what happened.
One moment, she was there giving birth, and the next moment, guards saw her running away with the other kid. We never even got to see his face.
To this date, Cyrus thinks that his mother chose the other kid over him.
But that wasn’t all. Gloria rebuked his candidacy for the throne. Even when Cyrus was her child, she signed an official letter saying everyone should be given an equal chance at being a King.
And she put Dominic’s kid as a priority because she said her child was cursed.
Since Cyrus doesn’t turn into a wolf despite having one, everyone believes she was right and that he was a curse. Even without a wolf, his power is seamless, giving everyone the idea of him being a monster because he is ruthless.
That’s why he thinks that his mother betrayed him.
Grayson told him that his mother died the very night when running. Dominic’s team found her dead body near the river along with a dead kid’s body. But Cyrus thinks that they do that to cover up her sins.
Amelia’s eyes brimmed with tears. It was a tragic story. But even as a listener, she didn’t know if the former alpha king deliberately left some things because she could see many loopholes in the story.
“That’s tragic indeed,” Amelia said, sipping the herbal tea as Grayson urged her.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise to you, Princess. We should’ve been careful,” Grayson said.
Amelia smiled before waving her hand as if it didn’t matter much.
