Chapter 116
Inside the hospital, Cyrus sat beside Lilithia, who was crying as if there was no tomorrow, and he pursed his lips into a thin line.
Though she was his cousin, it was still unbearable to see and hear her cry, not because he was feeling emotional towards her, but because he hated the voice.
“Brother, you have to find that girl. She saved my life. She risked her life and offered herself to those rogues for me. You must save her,” Lilithia cried.
Cyrus, not used to such drama, rolled his eyes.
His team has been looking for the rogues who attacked Lilithia for the last four hours, but so far they couldn’t find any leads on the rogues or the girl who saved Lilithia.
There was a high possibility that the rogues had already left the city by the time Lilithia informed them about it, and if that was the case, finding those rogues was equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack.
“We are trying, Lilithia. It’s hard. The rogues have already left the city, and all the CCTVs we checked only show people with masks,” Patrick tried to coax his sister.
There were no cameras in the no-man’s land, and the way they slickly escaped without anyone noticing indicated that they were professionals and this wasn’t their first time doing something like this.
Then again, regular rogues wouldn’t dare to put their hands on a royal either.
“We will thoroughly search all the cities and send our teams out of the state. You need to calm down for that. I’ll launch an order with my name if that’s what you want,” Cyrus said.
He leaned back in his seat, his gaze meeting Patrick’s briefly.
Lilithia stopped crying immediately.
She sniffed softly, looking at Cyrus with hope.
“Will you do that, brother?” She asked.
Cyrus hummed.
Fabian walked to Cyrus and looked him in the eyes, using his mind link to convey the message.
The man nodded at his subordinate and stood from his place.
“I assure you. My team is working on it. Go home and get some rest. I have to see what my wife is up to,” Cyrus said.
He was about to walk out of the room when Lilithia’s words stopped him.
“Brother, if you don’t mind, can I come with you? I wasn’t invited to your wedding. Can I come and meet your wife?” Lilithia blinked her eyes innocently.
Patrick didn’t like how his sister was behaving. And it wasn’t because he was jealous or anything, but because they were royals and they had to abide by certain rules.
How could she ask to meet the princess at this time? Besides, if their father heard that Lilithia went to the Grand Palace before coming to Bentley state, he would be furious, not to mention how their mother was already worried about her.
The reason she wasn’t here was that Cyrus and their family weren’t on good terms.
Patrick was about to scold Lilithia when Cyrus nodded.
“I think she would love that,” Cyrus scratched his forehead, remembering how Amelia recently complained about feeling a little bored at the Palace.
Lilithia clapped her hands.
Most of her wounds were already starting to heal due to their rapid healing, and she got out of bed.
“I’ll change,” She said.
Patrick and Cyrus exited the room, leaving the girl alone.
“Thank you for coming. It means a lot,” Patrick said.
Cyrus scoffed.
“She is my cousin, too. I am not someone who would hurt kinship for the throne. Though I know someone who would do it,” he said.
Patrick thinned his lips.
He knew the man was talking about his father. After all, they have been caught a few times in the act.
Although their crime was never proven before Grayson due to a lack of evidence and witnesses, it didn’t mean they didn’t do it.
As Patrick thought about it, he remembered Blue’s words about his father trying something on Amelia with the help of the rogues so he could prove Cyrus’s security was a joke.
He took a deep breath.
He felt guilty after everything that happened today, but there was nothing that he could do to stop his father, either.
Once Lilithia got out of the room, the trio went to the Grand Palace, where Cyrus lived with his team and Amelia.
Miss Quinn rushed to the large doors when she heard the sound of the tires screeching, hope evident in her eyes.
However, when she saw it was just their King with Patrick and Lilithia, her eyes dimmed.
She bowed to them in respect, but her searching eyes were a clear indication that she was expecting someone else.
Cyrus raised his brows in intrigue but didn’t ask anything, walking inside the Grand Palace.
“I’ll freshen up,” Cyrus said, walking straight to the stairs once he entered.
Miss Quinn asked the maids to bring snacks for Lilithia and Patrick.
“Miss Quinn, you are as lively as I remember,” Lilithia smiled.
The head of the maids smiled forcefully.
Patrick saw right through her smile. The lady was clearly distracted.
His gaze hardened at the thought. No matter how people treated her, he utterly despised it if anyone didn’t treat his sister right.
How dare a head of maids act like that?
“Miss Quinn, what’s wrong? You look worried?” Lilithia asked the lady before Patrick could scold her.
Miss Quinn shook her head at Lilithia.
“Everything is fine, Missus. Please tell me what you like to eat, and I will ask the chef to prepare it,” she said.
When Cyrus didn’t find Amelia inside the room, he wondered if she was working in the laboratory that he had recently arranged for her, and shook his head.
The girl loved experimenting, and it showed in her excellent work.
He didn’t want to disturb her, but he didn’t want to tolerate the guests on his own and thus, asked Miss Quinn to bring Amelia since Lilithia was there to meet her only.
Miss Quinn hesitated.
Cyrus sat on the couch, furrowing his brows when he saw that the lady didn’t move.
“Has my wife grown some kind of mind link by any chance? Why are you not moving?” Cyrus asked, taking the hot, brewed green tea.
Miss Quinn gulped.
“Sir, the thing is, Miss Amelia never returned from the University. I thought she was with you, but the lady trailed off.
Cyrus’s hands paused.
What did she say? Amelia never returned after University? It had been five hours since then.
“She hasn’t returned, and you didn’t bother to tell me?” Cyrus asked.
Though his voice was calm, the rage in his eyes promised nothing good.
“I am sorry p>
“Your sorry isn’t going to fix a fucking thing, Miss Quinn! After all the attacks she has been through these days Cyrus growled, his eyes darkening.
Lilithia flinched, inching closer to Patrick in fear.
Everyone knew Cyrus’s anger was the worst.
Patrick, on the other hand, clenched his arm around Lilithia, thinking about the worst.
Have the rogues already made the move? He wondered.
Lilithia gulped and was about to ask Cyrus to calm down when her gaze landed on a small photo frame near the table that Amelia had recently asked Cyrus’s permission to keep there.
Cyrus had agreed begrudgingly, finding it oddly cute.
As soon as she saw the girl in it, she froze.
“That’s the girl who saved me,” Lilithia said.
Everyone’s gaze turned towards the direction she was pointing in, and the world seemed to stop immediately.
This wasn’t good.
