Chapter 14:
“What the hell are you thinking? I’ve been out there knocking for a couple of minutes now and got no response!” she blurted out in anger.
I stared at her, silent, and walked past her toward the door.
“Is it because of Amira?” she asked, and I paused in front of the metal door with my right hand on the handle.
“What did you just say?” I asked, turning to look at her.
“I said, is it because of Amira?” she repeated.
“Despite how much I love to hear her name, hearing it from you feels like a bad omen,” I replied with disdain.
“You still love her, don’t you?” she asked, her eyes teary.
“What if I say I still love her just as much as I did five years ago?” I replied fiercely.
“What does she have that I don’t? She’s a weakling, not suitable for you as the new Luna. She has no elite title. What could be the reason you’re so attached to her, when I know she has nothing to offer you but bad luck?” she said, her voice full of disgust.
“Whatever she has to offer me is none of your business,” I replied, stepping closer to her.
“She’s a cursed Omega. To top it all off, she’s nothing but a slave p>
“Don’t ever call her that again. She’s not as shameless as you,” I blurted out.
“You’ll end up hating me till your last breath,” I added.
“Like seriously, is that how much I disgust you? Is that how much you hate me?” she asked, already in tears.
I gave her no response and left the room.
“How sure are you that it’s really Amira?” I heard her ask behind me.
“Whether she’s Emily or Amira, it’s up to me to find out. The best thing you can do is stay out of it,” I replied, slamming the door with a loud sigh.
Emily’s POV
“This is my time to make them pay for all the maltreatment I endured from them years ago. It’s time for me to take revenge for the suffering they caused me. They even went as far as trying to take my life. I’ll make them wish for death,” I muttered to my reflection in the mirror.
The sound of the door opening startled me, and I froze in fear.
“You busy? I’ve been knocking for a while and got no reply, so I decided to come in,” Tristan said, caressing my chin.
“I was lost in thought,” I replied. “Why? What’s bothering you?” I asked, raising my jaw to meet his eyes.
Shivers ran down my spine as I looked into his black eyes and saw the thin strands of hair falling across his face. How could he be this handsome, making my heart skip a beat? I thought to myself.
“I heard that Alpha Christian and Luna Vivienne were at the company today,” he said, leading me to the couch.
“Hmm… yes, I told them I would think it through,” I answered, as he made me sit on his lap.
“Dad said he mistook you for someone else… Hmm… Ami… ra… yes, Amira,” he stammered, trying to piece the name together.
