My mind froze at the mention of the name, “Amira p>
“Yes, I think I look more like the girl he claims I resemble, for him to mistake me for her,” I replied, hoping he wouldn’t sense the fear in my voice.
“Really? Or are you really Amira?” he asked, looking straight into my eyes as I began to sweat profusely.
Tristan’s POV
The sudden look of surprise and uneasiness on her face made me suspect something was off. The way her body twitched at the mention of the name Amira was something that needed to be carefully studied.
“What’s wrong, Emi? You don’t seem comfortable,” I asked.
“Nothing really, Tris. I’m just wondering what could have prompted them to think I’m their long-lost Amira. It’s quite ridiculous, you know?” she replied, looking perturbed, as if trying to steer the conversation elsewhere.
“Well, I hope you’re okay with the project,” I said, changing the subject.
“Like I told you, I need to think it through thoroughly. This way, I’ll understand what’s really going on, and whether we should help them or not,” she said, her full lips tempting me to kiss them.
“Come here,” I said, pulling her closer as I found my lips entangled in hers. I kissed her passionately, as if my life depended on it.
Emily’s arrival in our pack had brought nothing but peace and happiness. My men and I had found her in a pool of her own blood years ago when we were returning from a business meeting with the Stone Age company. I had been sent to represent the company on behalf of my father.
I wondered what could have made a group of people so callous as to try to end the life of a young lady as harmless as a dove.
“The good you do comes back to you, the evil you do remains with you,” I thought, but I grew tired of that “lame phrase,” as I always called it. All I ever wanted was for her to regain consciousness and see her healthy again. Every time I looked at such a wonderful creature, it made me shiver.

I looked at her with deep concern and interest, feelings I couldn’t explain.
One thing I knew I owed myself was to keep her alive, and I did that with everything I had. Every glance at her fueled my determination to make sure she lacked nothing and stayed alive—for her.
I made my way to her room after having a brief chat with the doctor taking care of her.
“How’s she feeling now, doc?” I asked impatiently. I couldn’t wait for her to open her eyes, so she could tell me about her ordeal and how she encountered such a callous group of people. Though I hadn’t seen their faces, from the retreating figures, one could tell they were men.
“She’s responding very well to treatment. More so, her recovery is happening quickly. She’s lucky,” he said, beaming with a smile, which, to be honest, irritated me. All I wanted to see was the beautiful girl I had rescued.
“But you won’t be able to go in just yet. She’s still sleeping due to the dosage I gave her,” the doctor pointed out.
“I know, but can I just go in and see her?” I asked, growing more impatient.
