I walked out of my room, fully prepared for work, only to be stopped by Mr. Mico, who was staring at me like I had grown horns overnight. But it was more of a worried look.
I hadn’t been out of my room for two days, and now that I was out, dressed for work like nothing had happened, anyone who really cared about me would be worried.
“Good morning, sir,” I greeted cheerfully, walking towards him. He was having his morning tea, as usual.
“Have a seat,” he said, dropping his cup on the table next to him carefully.
“Are you okay now?” he asked calmly, leaning forward to observe the look on my face.
“Yes, I’m good,” I replied, smiling.
“Emily, I understand what you’re going through, and you don’t have to push yourself so hard. Just take things easy; everything will be fine. And why are you all dressed up?” he asked.
“I’m off to work. Alpha Christian’s company is still in the process of rising back to how it was, and it’s our duty, according to the agreement we had, to help get the company back on its feet. That’s what I’m trying to do,” I said.
“Emily,” he called.
“Yes, sir,” I replied.
“Everyone in his pack, and even some beyond, knows what happened between you both that night. He tried to engage you, and then a woman announced she was pregnant. You suffered a heartbreak because of that no matter how strong you are, the wound you received was an emotional one, which shouldn’t be taken lightly p>
“I don’t think resuming work is the best idea for now. I have made a decision: Tristan will go in your place until everything goes back to normal. If you’re strong enough to start working again, you will resume at our company’s headquarters rather than going back there. I don’t want you to get hurt, and seeing him there would bring nothing but pain to you.” He said. I smiled lightly as I stared at his worried look; it made me feel like I finally had a father figure in my life. This was all thanks to Luna Vivienne and Sheela, who thought they would have me killed, but it ended up being a blessing.
“I’m fine. I’m sure about that. Staying back here would make them feel like they have won over me, but I will fight back and make sure I win over them no matter what.” I said, looking determined.

“Is there something more to all of this that I don’t know about? The only thing I know about you is the fact that you are Amira and Christian is the father of your son. Is there anything else you’re hiding from me?” He asked, curiously.
“Yes, there is something I found out recently, something shocking and heartbreaking, and that’s more reason I have to go back there. I have to make them pay for what they did in the past, and I won’t rest until I achieve that one thing.
“Do you want to tell me now, or will you tell me when you’re ready to?” He asked calmly.
“I have nothing to hide from you anymore. You literally know everything about me, and you have helped me greatly p>
