“Remember everything I told you?” Kace asked Allison one more time and she nodded in understanding, her eyes red and face pale from crying so much over the nights that had passed.
“I do,” she responded, her voice hoarse but still audible.
Kace’s gaze softened further, wishing he could envelop her in a warm hug. Without thinking, he did what he wanted to do, wrapping his arms around her and making sure there was no space between them—nearly making her his second skin.

“I will be waiting outside. The door to the room was slightly creaked open.
