Chapter 405
“Fiona told me everything,” Tracie replied and Anastasia’s eyes widened in shock.
Anastasia immediately dropped her bag on the couch and settled down opposite Tracie. From Tracie’s expression, it didn’t seem like what Fiona had revealed was something useful.
“What did she say?” Anastasia carefully asked, hands rubbing against each other in anxiety.
In Fiona’s hospital room, she was seated on her bed, obviously shaking for an unknown reason.
“Tell me everything,” Tracie urged as she looked at her. She’d thought Fiona would only be opening her mouth to speak after she’d settled matters with her husband, but since the latter was finally willing to talk even when she didn’t need to pressurize her, she wasn’t going to waste this chance.
The night Arabella died Fiona’s voice trembled, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. She quickly wiped them away, but the sorrow was still evident in her expression. “I needed to see her, to talk to her. I thought if I could just convince her to leave Xander alone, I could fix everything. I was willing to offer her money, anything, just to make her disappear from his life. I loved Xander so much, I thought it was the only way to make him love me again p>
Tracie nodded in understanding. Fiona was only sixteen back then and Xander was probably her first love. Being spoiled to the extent she got everything she’d always wanted, Fiona believed she would be able to pay Arabella off since the girl needed the money so she could have Xander all to herself.
But before that, I didn’t see Xander and Xavier together at school anymore,” Fiona continued, her voice quieter now. “I wanted to know where he was, and I thought maybe Arabella could tell me. So, I went to her place and waited. I stayed for two hours, but she didn’t come or leave, so I figured I’d leave too. I didn’t drive in because I didn’t want to draw attention, so I started walking away. That’s when I saw her—Arabella was running. I didn’t know from who at first, but I just started following her. I didn’t want to be seen, so I kept my distance p>
“She was being chased,” Tracie concluded.
Fiona nodded. “I saw her, she was terrified. I didn’t know what was happening and I didn’t want to get involved. I thought she was a bad person and probably looked for trouble and she was finally getting what she deserved so I didn’t interfere. I hid somewhere and watched her enter the bush. The men inside the car followed her and entered the bush as well.” Fiona’s voice was trembling in fear as her tears streamed down from her face.
“Did you get to see the faces of the people that chased after her?” Tracie carefully asked. She could see regret written all over Fiona’s face. Even though she was on bad terms with Arabella when the girl died, it was obvious she didn’t wish death upon her.
“I saw their faces. They all looked big and buff like bodyguards. They were dressed in suits too, very stylish suits p>
“So they’re not assassins then. Assassinators would try to cover their identity with a mask and wouldn’t dress in suits,” Tracie commented. She was an assassin herself, and when she needed to get rid of her targets, she was always dressed in something more comfortable and flexible in case she needed to fight a group of people. For the men to dress in suits, which is a restricting outfit, they had already concluded that Arabella would be easy to handle, and indeed, she was. “Did you see anyone else?” She asked.
Fiona’s blood ran cold for a moment. But since she’d already started talking, she might as well say everything she had in mind and not stop halfway.
“When the men were done, they came out of the bush but didn’t leave.” Fiona’s focus went into space as she tried to recall every single thing she’d witnessed that night. “They were waiting for someone. It wasn’t long before another car arrived and a man came out. His back was facing me so I couldn’t see his face no matter how I tried. But p>
“But what?” Tracie almost snapped but she stopped herself.
“I recognize his back and his posture. He was someone I’ve interacted with before and I know him p>
“So who is he?” Tracie urged.
“Like I said, I didn’t see his face so I might be wrong. He seemed to be…Mr. Wallace.” Then Fiona exploded into loads of tears. “I could be wrong, but he sounded like Mr. Wallace which is impossible since Mr. Wallace wouldn’t have ordered a bunch of people to get rid of his son’s girlfriend right?” She asked, looking at Tracie who’d suddenly gone quiet.
Tracie was beyond shocked when she heard Fiona mention Mr. Wallace’s name. Indeed the man had been acting suspiciously and he was on their lists, but what were the chances that he would order his men to get rid of Arabella? What would he gain from doing such a thing?
Loads of questions flooded Tracie’s mind and she didn’t even know where to start. Arabella was only an ordinary girl, but…why?
Mr. Wallace didn’t approve of the relationship. But a father wouldn’t be wicked enough to get rid of his son’s girlfriend permanently just because she was a middle-class girl, right? Tracie couldn’t help but wonder.
“So what did he do?” Tracie asked, her thoughts still wandering around.
“He went in there and came out a few minutes later. Then he and the rest of the men drove away. Arabella never came out and I was too terrified to go in there, so I went back home p>
Tracie tried to analyze Fiona’s words.
According to what Xavier had told her, his ring was found on Arabella’s body. Only someone who was able to get his hands on Xavier’s ring would be able to frame him. And that person could be…Mr. Wallace.
