I suddenly felt so irritated that I didn’t want to hear another word from him. “ If dying’s what you want, then go faster. Just don’t mess it up and end up crippled instead.”
I would rather die than go through the kind of pain I had endured before.
Irvin, who had seemed ready to say something, fell silent. His eyes darkened, and he said nothing more.
He simply slowed down.
I let out a bitter laugh. What a pathetic man. Tell him to slow down, and he won’t. Tell him to kill himself , and he eases off the gas.
Just like how he treated me before–when I wanted him, he didn’t care. Now that I didn’t want him, he refused to let go.
The car sped all the way to an estate that felt both familiar and strange to me.
A high–end estate right in the middle of the city–crazy expensive, but the scenery was absolutely stunning. Back when the company was just getting off the ground, Irvin and I came here to visit a client. I casually mentioned how amazing the place looked.
Thad said that living here must be the dream.
The moment the company made it big, Irvin snatched it up without thinking twice. When he bought this place, the company wasn’t exactly wealthy enough to throw money around without a care.
If he had invested that amount into our next project, we could’ve gone public in no time.
However, he chose to spend it on a house I had casually mentioned once. Back then, he said he could make plenty more money in the future.

away .
Thinking about the sweet memories I’d written in my journal, I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

Maureen greeted us warmly the moment we returned.

I smiled at her and chatted briefly. Sensing the tension in the air, she quickly excused herself and headed to the kitchen.
Irvin tugged at his tie, loosening it as some of his anger seemed to fade. “Stay away from that guy from now on!”
I thought he’d start by confronting me about hitting him, but no. The first thing he did was to warn me to stay away from Shaun.
Suddenly, I remembered something he had said when I told him to stay away from Julianne in my journal.
I was irritated as I said, “Irvin, can you stop acting so ridiculous? I was just having a meal with Professor Green.
We were classmates, and he saved my life. What’s wrong with that? Just because your mind is filthy, don’t project that onto him.”

He knew that saving a life could be repaid with everything one had , but between men and women , there should still be boundaries.
