Irvin was so angry that his face darkened immediately. He had never imagined that I could be this sharp– tongued . Every word I said was like a hook, sinking deep and twisting until he couldn’t find a response,
It took him a long moment before he finally looked down a Julianne.
“Emilia’s just being childish. Don’t take it to heart. Here, take this. I’ll have someone get you another one from somewhere else. No matter the cost, I’ll make sure you have the latest version today.”
This was the first time I had won against Julianne in all our countless confrontations.
Although this was the first time Irvin ever told her to back down for me, I wasn’t happy at all.
There were always plenty of ways to solve a problem. No matter how rare or difficult something was, Irvin could get it if he wanted to. Nothing was beyond him.
Irvin always made me give in to Julianne, no matter the situation. It was because making me back down was the easiest, most effortless solution for him. Also, it was also the one thing that hurt me the most.
Looking back, I couldn’t believe how much I used to tolerate it.
Julianne’s glimmer of hope, sparked by my aggressive talk about divorce, was instantly extinguished by Irvin’s words. She couldn’t help but glare at me, as if wishing I would be wiped off the face of the earth.
I shrugged and gave her a look that said, “What? Are you blaming me for your failure?”
Julianne was so furious that she fainted on the spot.
People often said Julianne was frail, and honestly, they weren’t entirely wrong. She wasn’t always pretending.
Seeing her collapse, Irvin panicked and carried her up, rushing outside without a second thought.
It was rare for Irvin to even remember me, his supposedly reconciliatory wife. As he reached the door, he actually had the nerve to turn back and tell me to wait for him at home.
I let out a cold snort.
Wait for you? Over my dead body!
After he left, Cordelia and I took Thompson’s latest product and headed straight to the set where my company was filming a short drama.
By the way, I hadn’t been just fooling around with the male strippers. I was actually working too.
I signed a few insanely handsome, promising models and planned to start grooming them through this short drama project.
When I say handsome, I mean drop–dead gorgeous. Their physiques were also top–tier.
After being disgusted by certain unpleasant people, I figured I deserved some eye candy to cleanse my mood.
As soon as we arrived, the handsome guys on set immediately swarmed around us. Their sweet talking was so over–the–top, and it was sweet enough to make anyone dizzy.
“Girl, just get divorced already! Once you’re single, you’ll have money, looks, and gorgeous men clinging to both arms. Life would be heavenly!”

It had been so long since I left school that hearing someone call me “ Lia ” caught me completely off guard. For a moment, I couldn’t process it.
A middle–aged woman approached me with a delighted expression. “It really is you, Lia!”
She spoke with warmth and respect, but I just couldn’t remember where I had met her before.
Just as I was wondering why she addressed me so fondly, a man in a wheelchair rolled up in front of me. He was still young, probably in his early 20s, but streaks of white already showed at his temples.
The cheerful smile he once wore so often had been replaced by a heavy, mature expression shaped by life’s hardships.
