When Irvin heard that I had jumped off the cliff, his mind went completely blank. He had told me so confidently that his plan was flawless, that nothing would go wrong.

His head buzzed so much that he couldn’t think. He only felt like the world was crumbling at his feet.

He thought I would never want him again. Our relationship was already broken, to begin with. And now…

His panic instantly surged.
He had been too careless and oblivious. The neglect and indifference had made him forget the most basic facts.
He had only estimated the height and thought that falling from that height into the water wouldn’t be fatal. After all, he thought I could swim.
He didn’t consider anything else. He didn’t calculate or think about the force of the impact from that height. Even though there was water below, it would still be excruciatingly painful.
Suddenly, he remembered how I had pleaded with him in the car.
He knew how proud of a person I was. Even during the hardest times when I was starting my business, I had never begged anyone for help.
