She claimed Irvin and her had gotten drunk during a meeting with a client. However, I had left her behind and only took Irvin away, which was what led to the client sexually assaulting her.
The truth was–Irvin had already fired Gemma before the Incident occurred.
Since she couldn’t interact with Irvin anymore, she had contacted prior client and used him to set up a meeting with Irvin. She had intended on getting Irvin drunk during dinner and then having her way with him.
However , that client also had sinister intentions toward her. He had invited Irvin out accordingly and kept making him down his drink. At the same time, the client also did the same with Gemma,
Irvin had thought the client was trying to get Gemma and himself to sleep with each other. Hence, he excused himself to go to the washroom and then slipped away.
He was already slumped against the restaurant’s entrance when I went to pick him up. I had never even seen Gemma that night, let alone intentionally leaving her behind so the client could take advantage of her.
Shaun wasn’t particularly surprised when he learned the truth.
Setting aside our interactions over the past two years, he knew from the get–go that I would never deliberately allow Gemma to be harmed in such a way. Shaun had known this from the moment had talked him down from the university’s rooftop and introduced him to Mr. Holland.

It didn’t matter what had actually happened–Shaun could only lie to himself that Gemma’s suffering had stemmed from me and Irvin.
Even if I hadn’t intentionally left her behind with the client, I had indirectly allowed the situation to happen by only taking Irvin away from the restaurant. In doing so, I had mistakenly left his sister alone with a male client.
Shaun had convinced himself that Irvin and I had committed the first fault and should be punished for it.
“I’m sorry , Emi,” he apologized. His usually warm gaze was full of guilt.
He had always believed I had been at fault, even if my actions were unintentional. It had never occurred to him that I didn’t even glimpse Gemma that night. This made Shaun realize I was innocent and had been unjustly accused.
I stared at him, not knowing what to say. In the end, I didn’t say anything.
Shaun begged me to forgive Gemma and not to hold her accountable. He claimed she just couldn’t bear what she had suffered and needed someone to hate to keep on living. That was why she had done what she did. He implored me to let her off just this once in consideration of how pitiful she was.
I didn’t make him any promises. What happened to Gemma was indeed tragic and traumatizing.
Even so, it wasn’t a reason for her to harm me. I wasn’t the culprit, so I shouldn’t and wouldn’t just take their slanderous and vengeful actions.
As such, I posted the results of the police investigation online. I exposed the Green siblings, making it known that I was innocent. They had wrongfully vilified me and unfairly made me the target of their revenge.
