Chapter 469
Even in his shattered state, Irvin still immediately realized something was amiss. However, he didn’t move. Instead, he remained there, acting as though he was dying from agony.
If the blinking light was from a pinhole camera, it meant someone was observing his every move. So, if he reacted to it , he would tip them off that they had been discovered. Thus, he remained slumped on the floor for some time before getting up and heading into the bathroom.
After confirming there weren’t any pinhole cameras in the bathroom , Irvin took out the tablet he had picked up on the way in and began operating it. Not long after, he discovered a group of unfamiliar wireless networks.
Irvin’s eyes narrowed at this, and his expression turned dangerous

She knew nothing could possibly happen between her and William. No matter what she did, she’d never have a chance with him in this lifetime. Even so, she absolutely couldn’t accept him being with me.

The unfairness and burning jealousy Julianne felt drove her madder the more she thought about it. And the more she dwelt on it, the more she felt she couldn’t let me and William be together–even if things ended in mutual destruction.
Julianne was so mad that she wanted to rush out and act on her impulse. But just then , Henry knocked on her door and walked in.
The moment Julianne saw him, she swiftly threw herself into his arms. In an aggrieved tone, she cried, “You have to help me, Dad. You just have to!”
Henry had always adored Julianne and couldn’t stand to see her cry. He immediately hugged and comforted her. “What’s the matter, Lianne? Don’t cry. Tell me what’s wrong…”
Julianne’s immediate thought was to ask him to come up with a way to end my life. But just as the words reached the tip of her tongue, another thought suddenly came to her mind.
Regardless of how much Henry adored her, he was still my father. So, he probably wouldn’t agree to a request like this.
Thus, Julianne changed tactics. She asked him for a drug. “Dad, do you have something that will completely paralyze someone without them noticing?”
Julianne had originally wanted me dead, but she had changed her mind. She wanted me alive, but in the most tragic state possible. She wanted me to be trapped in a living hell.
Henry frowned. “What do you want with a drug like that?”
As a poison–making expert, he had all sorts of drugs that could land someone in court.
Julianne answered, “A friend of mine is being abused by her husband. She can’t take it anymore, but she also can’t divorce him. She’s afraid that he’ll beat her within an inch of her life. So, she wants … ”
She had always been good at spinning lies on the spot. However, while Henry did trust and dote on Julianne, he wasn’t an idiot.
He knew exactly what kind of person Julianne was, so he didn’t believe she was asking for a drug like this for some abused friend. Plus, Henry had already heard the news that I was marrying William.

“I know you can’t stand to see Emi happy, Lianne, ” he said sharply “ I’m also aware of how much you like William, but he doesn’t like you. And he’s such a ruthless man. If you did something like that to Emi , he’ll surely take your life without even blinking!
“ Also, I’ve gone through so much trouble to cure Ava just to get William to agree not to hold your past actions against you. He’s promised to let you go and allow you to live freely once Ava has fully recovered. So, don’t ruin that for yourself just because you’re jealous of Emi and can’t stand to see her be well.”
He didn’t want to give Julianne such a harmful drug just so she could hurt me. But the first reason that crossed Henry’s mind wasn’t because I was his biological daughter, and he couldn’t bear to do something so harmful to me.
