I looked up at the castle in the distance once we arrived. Then, I looked at William in confusion. Of all places, he had a business discussion at Fabledom?
William smiled when he met my puzzled gaze. “That’s not why we’re here.”
This only confused me even more. If William wasn’t here for business , then was he actually here for pleasure? Someone like him had come to a theme park just to have fun?
William extended his slender and elegant hand to me. “Come on. I’m taking you to be a Fable princess for the day.”
I was stunned. We really were here to have fun.
Before I could fully process what was happening, William took my hand in his. Leaning in close to my ear, he whispered, “Our relationship started too suddenly. If we don’t show some affection before the engagement party and wedding, very few people will buy it.”
In other words, he had brought me here to have fun as a public display of affection. It was to make our relationship look more believable. Still… we didn’t have to come to Fabledom to do so.
William was an authoritative CEO who made millions in minutes. Yet, he was here at a theme park… It just felt strange.
I was about to tell him we could’ve just gone on a romantic dinner date instead.
But then, he said, “Haven’t you always wanted to come to Fabledom?”
His words stunned me for a moment. I had actually forgotten it had always been a childhood dream of mine to visit the theme park. But how did William know this?
My family was considered well–off in Claudeville. When Jeremy and I were younger, we attended a fancy preparatory school. Every time there was a school break the other children’s parents would take them on vacation elsewhere.
For children who grew up watching cartoons, the most fun and most desired vacation destination was Fabledom. This was especially so for little girls, who all dreamed of being a Fable princess–and I was no exception.
All of my classmates had visited Fabledom, and so had Jeremy. But me? Never.
Back then, there weren’t any Fabledom theme parks locally, so we had to fly to Redwood or other countries.
Jeremy and I were fraternal twins, so we were of the same age. Our family also had money, so it wasn’t like Mom and Henry couldn’t afford to take us both. However, my parents had only taken Jeremy there, not me.
I had learned that they had gone to Fabledom after they had returned. At the time, I was obsessed with Fable cartoons and dreamed of being a Fable princess.
So, I had sobbed uncontrollably. I had begged my parents to take me there too. But no matter how hard I had cried, they had refused to.
Grandma had offered to take me to Fabledom, heartbroken by how crushed I was. However, I hadn’t wanted to go with her, I wanted to go with my parents.

At the time, I was obsessed with Fable lore and sorely wanted to go. But more than that, I had wanted Mom and Henry’s affection. I had wanted them to spoil me the same way they did Jeremy. More than being a Fable princess, I wanted even more to be their little princess.
Back then, after I had calmed down, I had thought I must not have been good enough. That was why Mom and Henry didn’t love me and didn’t take me to the theme park. So, I had believed that as long as I did better, my parents would surely take me there too.
Hence, I studied hard and did everything I could to be a better daughter–all in hopes that maybe one day they would take me to Fabledom.
As I grew older, I lost interest in cartoons and no longer wished to go to Fabledom. But deep down, I still held the hope that my parents would take me there one day–that they would finally acknowledge and love
Later on, I stopped expecting anything from them. Only then did I finally let go of that childhood obsession.
Then, I started dating Irvin. One night, while we were curled up watching TV, we saw a couple getting engaged at Fabledom. I had casually mentioned my childhood dream to visit the theme park then.
Irvin had been upset after listening to my story. Then, he had declared he would take me instead since my parents wouldn’t. He had promised to make me the happiest Fable princess on earth.
