But at the time, it was the most challenging period for livin’s startup. We were so busy yet broke that we couldn’t afford decent meals, let alone a trip to Fabledon.
But Irvin had never forgotten his promise. So, once we finally had the time and money, he had made plans to take me there after the new year.
But then, Julianne had returned, and Irvin’s attitude toward me suddenly changed. Instead of taking me to Fabledom as promised, he had taken Julianne.
When I was younger, I had been so full of hope that Mom and Henry would take me to Fabledorn so I could be a princess for a day. Once I became an adult, that expectation had shifted onto Irvin.
I had thought maybe with him, I would finally get to be a beloved princess . But I never got what I had long been waiting for.
And just when I had finally forgotten about this childhood wish, I was suddenly brought here, to the fairy tale land I had once dreamed about.
For a moment, I didn’t even know how to describe what was feeling. All I knew was that my heart was aching uncontrollably.
I had always believed that I had grown up and had long since become strong enough to forget all my past grief. But contrary to my belief, I never had.
I felt as though my heart was being pierced by needles as painful memories associated with this place inadvertently surfaced. The pain came on densely.
As if sensing the change in my mood, William squeezed my hand slightly. “Keep your head up. In the future, your life will only be filled with happiness, joy, and beauty.”
I didn’t speak. I only lifted my gaze and followed his to look at the fairy tale castle ahead.
“Let’s go,” William said.
With that, he led me forward to the grand gate that opened into a fairy tale world.
While I had never been to Fabledom, I still knew it was always packed with people and had long queues. So, even if today wasn’t a holiday, this place still shouldn’t be this empty.
Looking at the attraction before us, I saw there was barely a line. Yet, when the people in the queue noticed William and me behind them, they immediately parted into two neat rows to make way for us to go first.
I couldn’t help looking up at William when I saw this.
With an amused smile, he said, “My company’s employees have worked hard these past few years. So I figured I’d bring them along for a day of team bonding.”
William hadn’t wanted the crowds to ruin the experience. At the same time, he was also concerned that the theme park would look so empty that it would feel awkward with just the two of us.
Thus, after renting out the entire park, William had invited his company employees to fill the space.

My eyes widened in astonishment when I realized the second meaning behind his words.
“ You booked out the entire theme park?” I asked.
William merely hummed in response.

I remembered reading about how a wealthy royal had spent over 100 million to rent out Fabledom for a day of fun with his classmates.
I was at a loss for words.
Before I could dwell on it further, William said, “Don’t overthink it. I just don’t like crowds or waiting in line. Plus, this way I get to show off our relationship, reward my performing employees , and boost my company’s profile. Three birds with one stone . ”
Considering William’s net worth , this probably was just a drop in the bucket to him. As he had said, it was a win all around. In fact, this outing might even benefit his company in ways that far outweigh the rental cost .
Realizing this, I stopped dwelling on it.
Seeing me slowly let loose and enjoy myself, William couldn’t keep his spirits from rising too.
As a seasoned businessman, not only could he see through people, but he also knew exactly how to ease them into their comfort zone. William was adept at getting people to lower their guard, little by little.
As a globally famous theme park, Fabledom’s popularity wasn’t without basis. Forget about children, even I a full–grown adult who was close to turning 30–found myself genuinely having fun. I enjoyed myself so much that I was actually reluctant to leave when night fell.
The final event at Fabledom was a nighttime fireworks show. Not only had William rented out the entire theme park, but he had also arranged for the fireworks show to be even more dazzling than usual.▾
We stood at the best viewing spot and watched as brilliant bursts of colors exploded above our heads. As I enjoyed the show, even someone as scientific and unromantic as I couldn’t help but be swept up in the magic.
I couldn’t help feeling I truly had stepped into a real–life fairy tale.
