After just a brief conversation with me, the major player had immediately agreed to work with us.

I knew he hadn’t been swayed by our business terms. He only agreed because he wanted me to help his mother stand again. That was the real reason he had readily agreed to work with us.
Timothy had offered such a favorable deal, but he had failed to win the major player over. Yet, I had barely spoken to the major player, yet I had already secured a partnership.
When I thought of this, I couldn’t help recalling what Mr. Holland had once said to me.
“You need to gain influence, become capable, and become useful. Once you have enough of all these qualities, there will always be people who will believe you’re indispensable. Then, no matter what happens and what you do, you’ll always have people who defend you and come to your aid.”
And he was right.
No matter where a person is in life, they should never give up on their education and career. When one was powerful enough, everything would always go their way. People would always have options. But the moment they gave up on themselves, the world would too.
I had never regretted falling in love with Irvin. But I did deeply regret being so blinded by it that I gave up on my studies for him. Thankfully, I came to my senses later on.
I’m also incredibly grateful that I had amnesia. Truthfully speaking, I even preferred that version of myself, who felt no love and was free from pain. I had been unstoppable back then.
Timothy’s eyes had already resembled a venomous snake. But as he watched me close the deal with the major player, his gaze turned even more sinister.
Grace had also lost all her earlier smugness. She had assumed I had used up all of my luck and had finally hit a low point. She had believed the wheel of fate was starting to turn against me.
Contrary to what she thought, I was still so lucky. I had even effortlessly gotten what she and Timothy had desperately wanted.
William and I planned to use the major player as a bridge to connect with even more influential people. Then, we would help Irvin clear his name through them.
Timothy had planned to sabotage our plan by snatching away the major player I was trying to connect with. But beyond that, he had also wanted to work with that powerful man.
Following his return to the Hardwell family, Timothy had intended to use the partnership with the major player as his major first move. It would’ve been proof to Magnus that he, Timothy Hardwell, was the more capable son.
Magnus clearly favored Irvin more than Timothy. So, Timothy wanted to show him that he was better than Irvin in every way. He also wanted Magnus to hurry up and hand over the reins of the Hardwell family to him.
Timothy had grown accustomed to calling the shots. He really couldn’t stand having someone above him now. He also hated having to consult Magnus before he did anything.
To make matters worse , Magnus was incredibly cautious. He shot down everything, and it was driving Timothy nuts.
Timothy had even been driven to the point where he had considered sending Magnus to accompany his grandfather before his time.
But then , he thought about how competent Magnus was. There was also no guarantee that he would be able to pull off sending Magnus to an early grave on the first try. So, Timothy had resisted his impulse.
Instead, he had planned on racking up commercial success. Timothy would use it to get Magnus to think about retiring early and handing over Hardwell Group and the title as head of the family to him. However, he had never imagined his opening act would be stolen just like that.

This made Timothy believe I truly was the bane of his existence , that I was born to be his nemesis. Otherwise, how else could he have lost to me twice, when he had been undefeated before?
Following William’s arrest, Timothy had assumed he would be detained for a few days at the very least. But when the conference ended, and Noah and I were about to leave, he came to collect us.
When Timothy saw William stepping out of his stretched Rolls–Royce, his already gloomy expression instantly turned even more terrifyingly stormy.
Noah and I , on the other hand, were positively delighted. As we both happily walked toward William , we suddenly remembered something.
Turning to look at Timothy, Noah and I flipped him off and mouthed the word “trash“.
After all, people were more likely to slip up the angrier they were, and that was exactly what Noah and I wanted. We wanted to infuriate Timothy so much that he lost all reason.
