Magnus also claimed that, upon knowing what had happened, he had exhausted all his personal connections to find Irvin. Then, when he had learned that William had saved Irvin, he was even more eager to visit him.
However, Timothy had had him under tight control. Because of this, Magnus also claimed he hadn’t even been able to leave Hardwell Manor, let alone travel all the way to Redwood to see Irvin.
According to Magnus, Timothy only relaxed his surveillance on him after he had officially handed over the Hardwell empire. That was how he finally got the chance to sneak out. And the moment he had that opportunity, he rushed straight over to see Irvin.
He also said Irvin meant a lot to him and that Irvin was the apple of his eye. He even swore he would definitely find a way to take back control of the Hardwell empire for Irvin.
Irvin believed Magnus did want to reclaim power over the Hardwell empire. However, he didn’t believe at all that Magnus treasured him greatly.
At this point, he no longer held any expectations or trust in any of the Hardwells. Still, he didn’t let it show. Not only that, he even acted as though he genuinely believed Magnus‘ claims.
After all, their goals aligned right now. Irvin needed to take Timothy down from his position as head of the Hardwells. Only then could he bring Timothy to justice.
Magnus was quite pleased with Irvin’s response. He played a loving father for a while longer before he spoke in a heartfelt tone. “Irvin, I know you and William are technically rivals in love. However, in moments like this, you should use everyone you can.
“Don’t ever let emotional entanglements interfere with the bigger picture. You must understand that as long as Timothy is in power, your ex–wife will always be in danger,” he said gravely.
Magnus was clearly worried Irvin wouldn’t set aside his pride and ask William for help just because they were rivals in love. After all, they had only teamed up before to save me. But now, this matter involved the Hardwell family.
Irvin simply replied, “Don’t worry, Dad. I won’t let pride stand in the way of what has to be done.”
His words weren’t just perfunctory or to deceive Magnus. Irvin actually meant them.
Magnus had made one good point. As long as Timothy was around, he would always pose a threat to me. So, no matter what it took, Irvin had to eliminate Timothy.
“Good, good,” Magnus acknowledged.
He felt that after what had happened, Irivn had become more composed and ambitious, which pleased him greatly. It made Magnus feel ever more strongly that Irvin was far superior to Timothy.
Just as Magnus was about to leave, William–whom Irvin already had a prearranged meeting with–walked in.
There was nothing that could be kept from William in Redwood. So even though Magnus had tried to keep his visit a secret, William had known he was in town the moment his plane had landed.
Having learned a fair bit about the inner workings of the Hardwell family, William raised an eyebrow at Irvin and asked, “Did your father come to ask for a partnership?”
“Yeah. With him working as the inside man, I should be able to get twice the results with half the effort.”
William smiled at this. “That’s probably true.”
Once he sat down, Irvin shared the latest intel he had received. “Timothy has teamed up with your nemesis. They’ll probably make their move soon.”
Irvin had planted spies inside the Hardwell family. So, he was aware of Timothy’s every move.
