And just as Grace thought, Irvin wasn’t going to let her off the hook. The fact that she was pregnant did nothing to spare her. He was going to make her suffer as much as humanly possible.
If Grace hadn’t schemed against him in some other way or even tried to kill him, he might’ve spared her long enough to let her safely deliver her twins, out of basic decency.
But what had she done?
She’d tainted Irvin’s name and ruined his reputation. And worst of all, she’d made him miss the last chance he had to make peace with me, his ex–wife.
Grace stared into his eyes as his gaze grew colder and darker by the second. Her heart pounded in terror at what might be coming.
The fear of what he’d do to her in the future overwhelmed her. Before she knew it, everything suddenly went black, and she passed out.
Everyone’s attention was still on Agatha, so no one noticed Grace falling hard. Their heads snapped toward her when they heard the loud thud. By the time they looked, she was already lying there, motionless.

Agatha had always truly cared about Grace. So even in her state of emotional collapse, the moment she heard someone shout that Grace was bleeding, she snapped out of it and turned her head sharply.
When she saw Grace lying on the floor, blood pooling between her legs, her eyes widened in horror. She looked like she might lose her mind entirely.

Magnus might have given up on Timothy, but he cared deeply about the babies Grace was carrying. He started yelling in a panic, too, shouting for someone to get the car.
For a while, the whole living room was pure chaos.
Irvin just stood there, watching. Cold and unmoving.
He had watched Grace faint, watched her fall, watched her start to bleed, and he hadn’t even flinched. Fon though he could’ve caught her in time, he didn’t move a finger. In fact, he was hoping she’d lose the babies.
Years of moral training had left him with just enough conscience that he couldn’t bring himself to deliberately harm a pregnant
woman .
But if Grace lost the babies on her own? That would free him from any guilt. And he’d sleep just fine.
Pregnancies were always fragile in the early stages, and miscarriages were common.
Grace’s case was even riskier. This was a pregnancy conceived via IVF, which already carried a higher chance of miscarriage. And, she hadn’t just gone for one embryo but pushed for twins, making the risk even worse.
On top of that, her body was already weak from the constant nausea of early pregnancy. She’d barely been able to eat.
