William didn’t know what to say to comfort me, and honestly, he felt that nothing he said would help. So he just gently rubbed my head and said, “He’s not worth it.”
I closed my eyes and responded quietly, “Yeah.”
I was just about to tell someone to drag Regina up and take her downstairs to Henry. I wanted him to see for himself just how healthy the woman he thought was dying really was, and how much of a fool he had been. But she was already awake.
She had been awake for a while, just pretending to be unconscious. Suddenly, she opened her mouth and tried to bite her tongue off to kill herself.
She realized the moment I said that someone with late–stage heart disease could never have survived a kick to the chest, that her entire plan had been exposed. Things would no longer go her way.
But before she could even regret or figure out what to do, someone knocked her out.
When Regina woke up and noticed no one was paying attention to her, she pretended to be unconscious as she desperately thought of a way out.
She knew Henry too well. She had manipulated him so completely that he even turned against his own mother for her.
So she also knew exactly what would happen if he found out she didn’t have a heart condition, and that the heart she was asking for was actually meant for her lover.
If Henry found out the truth, not only would he stop helping her, but he might actually kill her himself. No matter what, she couldn’t let him know the truth.
But no matter how hard she racked her brain, she couldn’t find a way to hide it from him.
Especially after hearing that we had solid evidence and identified the real heart patient, Regina was devastated to know that she had no way of turning things around.
Unless she died.
She understood Henry well enough to know that if she died, no matter how much evidence I showed him proving she didn’t have a heart condition–and that the one who needed the transplant was actually the man she loved- he still wouldn’t believe it.
He would just lose his mind from the grief of losing the love of his life. He’d spiral and go out of control.
And that way, even though Regina wouldn’t get anything in the end, Henry would still kill Grandma, and I’d lose the person I cared about most. She could leave me in regret and unbearable pain.
The more she thought about it, the more she realized staying alive meant nothing but suffering and a miserable end. Dying was the only way she could drag me down with her.
Even though she didn’t want to die, she chose to.
But…
Just as she moved her mouth, someone grabbed her face hard. She couldn’t die, even if she wanted to.
Regina thought no one had noticed her waking up, but the truth was, William’s people had already seen the signs of it before she completely regained consciousness.

Regina couldn’t die even if she wanted to. Even in pain, she still had the energy to glare at me. She completely gave up pretending to be weak and pitiful.
Her eyes were filled with hatred, like she wanted to rip me apart. But no matter how badly she wanted to do that, there was nothing she could do.
Afraid that dying would give Regina exactly what she wanted, I had someone inject her with a sedative to calm her down completely.
