Chapter 143
Nothing Else matters
Nothing Else matters
Cassian,
The world had narrowed to red, throbbing, shaking and painstakingly provoking.
Not blood exactly, though there was plenty of that. But something deeper, heavier, burning behind my eyes. Like a red cloth before a bull, provoking.
Every sound arrived distorted, stretched thin, as if the air itself was trembling in fear of me. My steps shook the ground, my breathing echoed in air, authoritative, commanding and in control.
They screamed when they saw me. Some didn’t even get that far. Those tiny existence that caused everything.
My claws tore through flesh before my mind registered faces. Bones snapped beneath my grip like wet branches. I felt ribs give way, felt bodies hit the ground, felt the hot spray against my skin-and none of it mattered.
She wasn’t here. My Mate, the one I abandoned for another Bitch… Wasn’t there.
That was the only thought that survived.
Cyrus paced beneath my skin, snarling, clawing, tearing at my control. Angry at me, Angry about the so called mortality, so called family I wanted to have myself. Angry that our mate wasn’t enough.
“Mate. Mate. Mate.” The word wasn’t language anymore. It was instinct. Hunger and Pain for him. He was desperate… so was I.
Something was wrong.
The pull in my chest hurt, sharp and erratic, like a heartbeat that couldn’t find its rhythm. Every step forward made it worse, like I was moving against an invisible current dragging me somewhere else.
There was no strain of hesitation. Just moving, destroying because… Now everyone was my enemy. One of them had my mate, my woman… My world. And they were hurting her, hiding her.
Give me back my mate. Give her back, You worthless insects p>
I broke walls, as I moved forward, roaring, burning with rage and uncontrollable thoughts on destruction.
Then, I noticed them. A group of warriors. Torchlights flickered ahead me. They raised their weapons as if their tiny weapons could stop me. Tsk, too late.
One lunged. I caught one of them mid-shift, my hand closing around his throat. His eyes went wide, terror spilling out as I lifted him off the ground. He tried to speak. I crushed his windpipe instead. The sound was ugly and Satisfying.
My Lycan roared approval. But when I was ready to crush another one, The scent hit me. Pure Jasmine with the metallic scent of blood.
Not theirs but hers. Thick with her wolf’s scent.
My breath stuttered. My vision tunneled violently. The world tilted, and for half a second, I staggered like I’d been struck.
I lowered my head, tracing the source of the scent. But I stopped when I noticed a few small footsteps shaped by dried blood strains. My heart sank.
It’s hers.
Then, in a second, everything blurred. Her pain slammed into me without mercy. My chest seized so hard I nearly dropped to one knee. The bond screamed, raw, frantic, breaking apart at the edges,
A loud throb like heartbeat slammed against my head.
The mate-bond, loud but weak.
My chest tightened with terror. She was alive but… barely.
My control shattered.
I tore through the corridor like a storm unleashed. Walls cracked under my hands. Doors splintered. Anyone who stood in my path ceased to exist as anything recognizable. I didn’t slow. I didn’t think.
As if the world itself was against me, preventing me from being with my mate. I didn’t care about anything else. No family,
no power, no title as a King. I wanted to escape, I wanted to run away… far away, with her.
Just as I arrived in front of a three storey abandoned house, with no lights but burning with fire. My heart hammered against my ribcage.
Her scent got thicker. The mate-bond was weak but it started pulsing faster.

Nothing Else matters
“Roana!” My throat trembled when I called her softly. “I am here p>
Kill him. Don’t let him get inside the building p>
Just as I approached the building, Gunfire erupted. A distance voice came from the other side of the building.
I looked up, finding that face I wanted to tear up.
I didn’t feel the bullets. Not when my shoulder took one. Not when another grazed my ribs. The wounds sealed even as they tore. Pain was irrelevant.
She was close. Too close.
I stood in front of the door, the wooden door that kept me away from her. Just as my claws almost reached the door to
break it off.
The explosion rocked the building.
The shockwave hit me like a fist. Dust and debris rained down. My Lycan howled-furious, terrified. The pull in my chest spiked so violently I cried out, the sound ripping from my throat, feral and broken.
I froze, staring at the wall that had exploded.
And to my absolute horror, I saw her…Roana,
Her body slamming into something. Her pain flaring bright and sudden, then collapsing inward like a dying star.
Fear unlike anything I had ever known tore through me.
“Mate!” A bone-freezing cold snarl vibrated my throat, escaping like a rumble.
I burst through what remained of the doorway.
The hallway was wreckage. Blood everywhere. Bodies scattered like discarded pieces. My gaze locked onto her instantly- because of course it did. It always would.

Roana lay crumpled against the wall. Too still. She looked unrecognisable and battered.
No. No. Roana. My Roana p>
Her scent was wrong, fading, thin, slipping through my grasp no matter how hard I reached for it. My heart slammed painfully as I crossed the distance in a blink, dropping to my knees beside her.
Her face was pale. Blood streaked her skin. Her chest barely moved.
My hands shook as I touched her.
“Roana,” I breathed, my voice breaking around her name. ” Please… No p>
The bond flickered weakly, like a dying flame.
Something inside my chest split open. I gathered her against me carefully, desperately, my forehead pressing to hers as my Lycan snarled and whimpered all at once. Rage and terror tangled so tightly couldn’t tell where one ended and the other began.
I had left her. I had let this happen.
My jaw clenched until it hurt. The air around us vibrated as my power surged unchecked, the building groaning in protest.
Anyone still breathing here would die.
But first- I bent closer, my hand cradling her head, my breath brushing her skin.
“Stay” I whispered, the word a command, a plea, a promise soaked in blood. “I’m here. You don’t get to leave.” Tears finally spilled, “I am here. Please p>
The world could burn. I would tear it apart piece by piece. But she would live.
