She shot me a venomous look before instantly switching to her victim act-eyes all red and watery as she dropped to her knees in front of me.
“Please, I’m begging you! Think of my children-they’re so young, they need their father p>
The implication was clear: I was the one chasing after Ethan.
“Seriously, what’s wrong with Charlotte? She’s all over the place-first this guy, then that guy. The other woman already has two kids and she’s still causing drama p>
“Is Sebastian blind? Why would he want someone like that p>
“Homewreckers have no shame. Probably just good in bed p>
The nasty comments kept coming.
I caught a flash of satisfaction in Lily’s eyes.
I cut through the bullshit: “Lily, who’s really chasing who here? This is MY wedding. I didn’t invite either of you, but you both barged in to wreck it. Your precious Ethan is the one who won’t leave me alone p>
I’d had enough. I told Sebastian to throw them out, but Ethan refused to budge. His stare had an unhinged quality that made my skin crawl:
“Charlotte, I forbid you to marry anyone else p>
I was getting seriously annoyed.
“Mr. Blackwood, I think you’re confused about who you should be talking to. The mother of your two children is right there. This shit just makes people want to puke p>
Lily got to her feet, glared at me, then grabbed Ethan’s arm and started her baby-voice routine:
“Honey, since she’s already betrayed you, stop dwelling on the past. The kids are tired-let’s go home p>
But Ethan-who usually melted whenever Lily so much as pouted, shook her off like she was nothing. Complete personality flip:
“What happens between Charlotte and me is none of your business. Go home p>
Lily’s eyes went wide with shock and hurt, but Ethan acted like he didn’t even see her.
His focus stayed locked on me:
“Come home with me, babe. If you want a wedding, I’ll give you one p>
I frowned. “Are you deaf? I don’t want a wedding with you-I don’t want to see your face p>
Throwing his own cruel words back at him seemed to hit Ethan.
He just stood there, stunned.
I was done arguing. Time for action instead of words.
After Sebastian slipped the wedding ring on my finger, I stood on my toes and kissed him.
The crowd cheered and whistled. My cheeks burned with embarrassment.

Ethan stared at us like his world was ending.
His eyes went bloodshot.
But I just focused on getting through the ceremony properly.
Later, Sebastian made it his mission to destroy Ethan’s company. Suddenly Ethan was too busy to bother me.
I enjoyed the peace and quiet. Word was that he and Lily were at each other’s throats constantly over childcare duties.
Turns out losing their live-in nanny-me-was a bigger blow than they’d expected.
When you’re stuck dealing with screaming kids and dirty diapers all day, the spark dies real fast.
After all the sleepless nights and constant fighting, how much love could possibly be left between them? They probably couldn’t stand the sight of each other anymore.
But, none of my business anymore.
Sebastian spent the next three years making sure I never skip the meds.
My health improved dramatically, and eventually I got pregnant again.
The next time I saw Ethan, he looked like hell-dirty, exhausted, broken.
As we passed each other on the street, I heard him crying about his regrets.
I almost laughed.
My life kept getting better and better.
He deserved to rot in hell.
