Rebekah felt a cold laugh rising in her throat.
*Love me? Spoil me? Had he spun so many lies that he had started to believe them himself? How could he say such things with a straight face p>
Rebekah had no desire to continue the argument. “If you won’t come, I’ll go talk to Grandpa myself p>
She turned and headed for Old Mr. Forrester’s room.
Shawn watched her go, his eyes turning red. His mother hadn’t even looked at him. Was she really abandoning him?
No! Aunt Candice was right. His mom was just a selfish, dramatic person who was throwing a tantrum to get his dad’s attention. Dad worked so hard, and all she did was run away from home. She just wanted them to pay more attention to her. How pathetic! He refused to give in and let her win.
Benjamin watched Rebekah’s determined retreat, that strange sense of panic rising in him again. He started to follow, an overwhelming frustration building inside him.
Suddenly, the butler rushed to the bottom of the stairs. “Sir, it’s the old master! He’s collapsed p>
Benjamin sprinted up the stairs, with Rebekah, her heart pounding, close behind.
A few minutes later, a car sped away from the Forrester Estate, racing toward the hospital.
Outside the emergency room, Rebekah, Benjamin, Shawn, and Candice waited anxiously. Benjamin’s parents arrived shortly after, rushing down the hall.
The moment Benjamin’s mother Hortensia saw Rebekah, she marched over and slapped her across the face. The blow was so sudden that Rebekah didn’t have time to react.
“Dad was perfectly fine at home, and the second you show up, he’s in the hospital! You’re nothing but bad luck! You’re the one who put him in here p>
Seeing Rebekah get hit, Benjamin frowned. “Mom, Grandpa just collapsed Nt has nothing to do Rebekah.” It was rare for him to defendher, but seeing her standing stirred something in him. She was still his wife, after all.

Candice quickly stepped in, taking Hortensia’s arm. “Hortensia, Grandpa really did just collapse suddenly. It wasn’t Rebekah’s fault, it’s just that p>
“Just what?” Hortensia demanded.
“It’s just that… Rebekah has been acting out lately. She ran away from home and has been seen getting close with some pretty boy. I wonder if Grandpa overheard something and the shock was too much for him p>
That was all Hortensia needed to hear. “Rebekah! How dare you cheat on my son! You shameless hussy!” She raised her hand to strike again.

Before Hortensia could process her words, Benjamin’s voice cut through the air, sharp with fury. “Grandpa is still in surgery and you’re causing a scene? Do you have any respect at all p>
Shawn glared at her, his eyes filled with disgust. “I’m so embarrassed that you’re my mother! You made Great-grandpa sick, and you don’t even feel guilty. People who’ve been to prison are all evil!” He turned to Candice “Youre nothing like Aunt, Candice! You don’t deserve to be a mother p>
Hortensia looked from Rebekah to Candice. This woman, who had usurped the Fletcher family’s name for years, was an imposter. She was completely unworthy of her brilliant son. A divorce was exactly what she wanted.
She patted Candice’s hand warmly, then turned a look of undisguised contempt on Rebekah. “Since you know you’re not good enough for my son, you can tell Dad you’re divorcing as soon as he’s out of surgery p>
Then she looked back at Candice and said, “Candice, dear, your husband has been gone for years. It’s time you found someone new.” She cast a meaningful glance at Benjamin.
Candice said nothing, but a shy blush crept up her cheeks.
Benjamin, however, wasn’t looking at her. His face was a dark mask as he stared at Rebekah.
