Thanks to Benjamin’s scheming, perjured testimony had landed her in prison.
She had already taken the fall for a crime she didn’t commit; how could she possibly clear her
name now?
After wrestling with her thoughts for what felt like an eternity, she still had no answers. Giving up, she got out of bed and went downstairs for a glass of water, hoping to clear her head.
As she returned from the kitchen, she heard a familiar voice coming from the small garden
patio.
Drawn by an impulse of curiosity, she moved closer.
The voice was soft, yet the words it carried were as cold as ice.
“Candice, I was the one who posted the video of Rebekah’s hit-and-run online. It has nothing to do with you, so don’t blame yourself p>
Rebekah froze, a chill spreading through her entire body. In the dead of night, she could clearly hear Benjamin’s conversation on speakerphone.
Candice’s playfully chiding voice came through the phone. “But she is my sister, after all. Even though she lived the life that should have been mine for eighteen years, I never blamed her. If she finds out, we’ll be nothing but enemies p>
Benjamin’s voice turned hard. “She enjoyed eighteen years as a pampered heiress. It’s only right that she pays it back. You have nothing to feel guilty about. You’re a principal dancer now; your reputation has to be spotless. The only way to protect your future is to make sure this crime sticks to Rebekah. She owes you that p>
Soothed by his words, Candice sighed and said in a sweet, wheedling tone, “Well, you’ll have to make it up to my sister for me p>
Benjamin’s voice instantly softened. “Don’t worry. This was just a lesson because she was getting out of line. I had to make it public p>
“Just stop worrying about your sister and focus on your competition,” he continued gently. “I’ll be waiting to see you shine on stage p>
Rebekah didn’t hear the rest of their conversation. She walked back to her bedroom in a daze, the glass of water trembling in her hand.
Her mind reeled with their words. It was Benjamin. Benjamin had done this to her. For Candice, he was willing to destroy her.
She thought back to the boy he used to be, the one who would take the blame for her with his parents, who would comfort her when she felt wronged by them. She had been so moved by his devotion back then. Now, she realized the truth. The Forresters had hurt her, and Benjamin had comforted her. It was all a ploy to manipulate her feelings.

How easily she had been fooled.
A deep, internal cold spread through her, followed by a wave of nausea.
Rebekah grabbed her phone, no longer trying to hide from the storm. She had to clear her name, even if it was just a single post on social media. She wouldn’t let Benjamin and Candice frame her as a criminal and ruin the rest of her life.
But when she opened her social media app, she realized the constant stream of notifications had stopped. Puzzled, she searched for the original account that had posted the damning
video and found that it had been deleted.
Overnight, every negative post and article about her had been wiped clean.
Rebekah scrolled through her phone in disbelief. It was as if the events of the past
two days had been nothing but a bad dream.
What had happened? Had Grandfather done something?
Meanwhile, just as Benjamin hung up with Candice, a call came in from his assistant.
“Mr. Forrester, we have a problem. The video of your wife’s hit-and-run has been deleted, and all the negative press about her has vanished. We can’t figure out who did it p>
Benjamin’s eyes turned to ice. He ended the call, his mind racing.
