Apparently, his little sister wasn’t a typical fan. It was as if she’d completely forgotten about him. He was starting to suspect that her claim of being his fan at the hospital had just been a polite lie.
“Rory, the principal of Heidi’s Kindergarten sent an invitation for their anniversary celebration tomorrow. Are you going?” his assistant asked.
“No,” Rory said without hesitation. He was an A-list celebrity. What was he going to do at a kindergarten event?
His assistant wasn’t surprised. It wasn’t a major event, after all. The principal was someone Rory had met at a charity function-and was a fan of Rory’s-which was why the invitation had been sent. But Rory didn’t accept every invitation that came his way.
The assistant shrugged and headed for the door to send the regrets.
Just then, Rory’s phone buzzed. He picked it up, a flicker of hope in his eyes, but it was a text from an unknown number.

Rory’s expression tightened. “Wait!” he called out to his assistant.
“What is it, Rory?” The assistant turned, his hand on the doorknob.
“Clear my schedule for tomorrow. I’m going to the Heidi’s Kindergarten event p>
“What?” The assistant stared at him as if he’d lost his mind. In the few seconds it had taken to turn around, had Rory been possessed?
Rory didn’t explain. He forwarded the anonymous text to his older brother with a message of his own.
‘Big Bro, can you trace this number for me? Little Sis might be in trouble tomorrow p>
His brother was fast. The phone rang less than two minutes later.
“Big Bro, did you find anything p>
His brother’s voice was cold and clipped on the other end. “The number is a burner. Untraceable p>
Rory’s face grew serious.
“You go to the event tomorrow and help her out. Play it by ear p>
“Can I just tell her I’m her third brother p>
There was a long pause on the line. “We tried to contact her a year ago, but she refused to come back. Even though she’s the one who reached out this time, there’s no guarantee she won’t change her mind. It’s best not to overwhelm her p>
Rory sighed. “I guess you’re right. Don’t worry, Big Bro. I’ll be there tomorrow. I won’t let anyone bully her p>
After hanging up, Rory posted an update to his social media feed.
Later that evening, as Rebekah was scrolling through her feed, she saw Rory’s post. He mentioned he would be attending the anniversary celebration at Heidi’s Kindergarten Her eyes widened. Rory was going to be there too? That meant she was going to make a fool of herself in
front of her idol.
As if on cue, there was a knock on her door, followed by Shawn Forrester’s small voice.
“Mommy, I brought you your outfit! Can you open the door p>
Rebekah put down her phone and opened the door. Shawn stood there, holding up a large box and beaming at her.
“I picked this out for you. Please wear this dress to the celebration tomorrow p>
