At city hall, Rebekah and Benjamin filed the paperwork. The clerk informed them they could pick up their divorce certificate in one month.
“Since it’s official, it wouldn’t be right for me to stay at the Forrester Estate,” Rebekah said. “I’ll go back and pack my things. I’ll be out by tomorrow p>
“Do whatever you want,” Benjamin snapped.
As he turned to leave, he shot her a final, condescending look. “I’ll be waiting to see how long it takes for you to come crawling back p>
He was gone. He was still convinced this was all just a fit of pique, that she was just angry he hadn’t defended her, that he had sided with Candice. In his mind, she was a materialistic woman who had just lost her connection to a wealthy family. Without him and his money, she would be nothing. He gave her a few days, at most, before she came begging him to take her back.
Rebekah rolled her eyes at his retreating back. As she prepared to leave, a voice startled her.
“Has he always been this awful to you p>
She spun around to see Rory Powell standing there. She didn’t recognize him at first; he was wearing a mask and sunglasses that covered most of his face. If it weren’t for his distinctive voice, she might have thought she was being mugged.
“Have you been following me p>
“I just came to watch the finale,” he said with a smile, pushing his sunglasses down slightly to reveal his eyes. “You said you’re moving out. Do you have a place to stay? Do you need any help p>
Rebekah found his sudden friendliness a bit overwhelming. He was her idol, but he was also a stranger.
“No, thank you. I’ll find a place p>
Rory saw the guardedness in her eyes and understood. “Actually, I p>

when his phone rang. He shot her an apologetic look and stepped away to answer it. When he returned, his
expression was troubled.
“I have to go, it’s an emergency. But if you need anything, please, don’t hesitate to call me p>
Rebekah managed a small smile. “Thank you p>
Rory looked at her for a long moment. “We’ll see each other again,” he said, before pulling his sunglasses back up and turning to leave.

Rebekah thought it was a strange thing to say. She couldn’t imagine her life crossing paths with a huge celebrity again, so she quickly dismissed it.
On her way back to the Forrester Estate, she got a call from Jensen.
“Congratulations on your escape p>
Rebekah laughed. “I have to wait another month, but at least I’ve made it to shore p>
