Benjamin gave a noncommittal reply and hung up. He thought for a moment, then dialed Rebekah’s number, only to find the call wouldn’t go through.
She had blocked him.
The realization reignited the anger that had just begun to cool. He immediately called his assistant.
“Find out where Rebekah is. Now p>
The next day, Rebekah was tidying up the apartment, getting ready to head to Daphne’s clinic. A knock sounded at the door. Assuming it was Jensen, she went to open it.
But it was Benjamin standing in the hallway.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, her voice sharp.
“Who were you expecting?” he countered, his eyes sweeping over her with a dismissive air. He glanced past her into the apartment. “Aren’t you going to invite me in p>
Rebekah blocked the doorway. “Just say what you came to say.” She had nothing left to discuss with him.
Her defensive posture annoyed him, as if he were the one desperately seeking her out. “Why did you block my number p>
“We’re divorced. Isn’t blocking each other normal p>
“Don’t forget, we haven’t signed the papers yet p>
“I’ll unblock you on the day we go to city hall p>
Benjamin’s hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into tight fists. If she weren’t still, technically his wife, hez felt he might have swung at her. He let out a sudden, humorless laugh**”I can’t believe you think you can hold out that long p>
He knew how much she had depended on him over their seven years of marriage. He refused to believe she could simply walk away from their life together, from the love she had for him.
“One of your high school classmates called me,” he said coolly. “He couldn’t reach you, so he invited you to a reunion. I told him you’d be there p>
A high school reunion? She hadn’t been to one since graduation. With the news from yesterday’s live stream still plastered everywhere, she was the center of a me firestorm was obvious these so-called classmates had ulterior motives.

Rebekah knew he was doing this just to spite her. Forcing him to register the divorce yesterday had been a blow to his pride, and now he was looking for payback. She stared him down and moved to slam the door.
He shot out a hand, bracing it against the frame, and grabbed her wrist. “Rebekah, my patience has a limit. Come back with me now, and we can pretend none of this ever happened p>
She frowned at him, about to reply, when an apple suddenly flew through the air and smacked Benjamin squarely on the side of the head.
He yelped in pain, clutching his head as he spun around.
Jensen was walking toward them from the elevator, carrying a bag of fruit. He was dressed in a casual black-and-white tracksuit, his silver hair neatly styled, a few strands falling across his forehead. His handsome, almost sculpted features were clouded with displeasure, and he radiated an aura of natural
authority that far surpassed Benjamin’s.
“What are you doing here?” Benjamin demanded, his eyes darting between
Rebekah and Jensen, his voice rising in accusation.
