“Is this how you do business? I’ll have you know I can get you fired p>
“We’re paying customers! We’re the ones in charge here p>
The server remained calm and professional. “We have security cameras. We’ve recorded everything you did to harass this woman. You can either leave now, or I can call the police p>
“You-!” Chloe sputtered, but Candice stopped her. If this blew up and the police got involved, the security footage would expose her, too. She didn’t care what happened to the others, but she was about to launch her acting career and couldn’t afford any scandals.
She whispered in Chloe’s ear, “Chloe, if this gets any bigger, our families will hear about it p>
Though Chloe was the spoiled baby of her family, her father was obsessed with appearances. If he found out she’d ended up at a police station after a class reunion, he would actually hit her. She shivered at the thought and shot a venomous glare at Rebekah and Jensen. “You two just wait!” she spat, grabbing her purse and storming toward the exit.
Candice walked up to Jensen and Rebekah, her voice low and menacing. “You’re just a driver for the Hawthornes, throwing your weight around because you work for them. Sooner or later, I’ll make you pay p>
Jensen let out a cold laugh. “We’ll see who pays first p>
His presence was so overpowering that Candice, who had intended to intimidate him, found herself almost breathless under the weight of his stare. She practically fled after Chloe. The rest of the former classmates quickly followed suit, unwilling to get entangled with the police.
Soon, the only people left on the top floor were Jensen, Rebekah, and Victor, who was still clutching his bleeding forehead.
“Let me call an ambulance for you,” Rebekah said, pulling out her phone.
“I don’t need your fake kindness!” Victor shouted, cutting her off. “Rebekah, I’ll remember what happened tonight!” He shot a hateful look at her, then another at Jensen, before turning and staggering away.
Rebekah was speechless. It wasn’t about kindness; she was worried that if something happened to him, Jensen would be held responsible.
“Are you okay?” a concerned voice asked from above.
She looked up to meet Jensen’s worried gaze and managed a small smile. “I’m fine p>
“You obviously can’t stand these people. Why did you even come to this reunion p>
“I thought since I’m leaving soon, it might be nice to see my old classmates one last time. Turns out I would have been better off not seeing them at all.” Rebekan glanced at the darkening sky. “Have you eaten p>
