Chapter 206
Benjamin took Rebekah back to their villa, the house they had lived in for six years of their marriage. She hadn’t set foot in it since she’d asked him for a divorce.
He dragged her through the front door. Shawn Forrester was in the living room, and his eyes lit up when he saw his parents return together, but his expression quickly soured into a look of disdain for Rebekah.
“I thought you wanted to divorce Dad. What are you doing back here p>
Rebekah’s wrist ached from Benjamin’s grip. Unable to break free, she retorted instinctively, “Weren’t you the one who wanted Candice to be your new mother p>
Whether from anger or something else, Shawn’s cheeks puffed out. “That’s right! You’re not good enough to be my mom! Who wants you back anyway?” he shouted before turning and running upstairs.
Benjamin pulled Rebekah down into the villa’s basement and threw her roughly to the floor. Her elbow hit the concrete, and the sharp pain brought tears to her eyes.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she demanded, looking up at him.
Benjamin sneered, his eyes filled with disgust. “What? Did you think a faithless, dirty woman like you is someone I’d ever touch again?” His voice was cold, as if it had clawed its way out of an abyss.
Though she expected nothing from him, his words still struck a raw nerve. So that’s how he had always seen her—as something vile. She scrambled to her feet and glared at him. “You lied about Grandfather to get me here. What do you really want p>
“You have the nerve to ask me that?” he snarled, his eyes bloodshot, looking as if he wanted to tear her apart. “Who did you meet at The Verdant Bistro today? Why do you have to be so cheap? Are you only satisfied when my reputation is dragged through the mud p>
He grabbed her chin, forcing her to
look up at him. “Do you have any idea how long I planned for that meeting with the Powell family? You ruined everything!” He flung her away, and she stumbled backward, catching herself on a storage shelf to keep from falling.
She looked at him, her own gaze turning just as cold. “When did the Powell family ever agree to work with you? You and Candice were the ones ating inappropriately and you got called out forat. What does that have to do with me p>
“Still making excuses p>
Rebekah held her head high, her defiant gaze locked on his. Benjamin’s hands trembled with rage. He turned and slammed his fist into the wall.
Rebekah’s heart pounded. She didn’t know what he was planning, but she knew he was unstable and capable of hurting her. Seeing her chance while his back was turned, she began to inch silently toward the door.
Suddenly, he spun around. “I was too lenient with you before. From now on, you’re staying down here. You’re not going anywhere p>
Rebekah watched in horror as he strode out of the basement. Her heart sank, and she lunged for the door, but he was too fast. The heavy door slammed shut just as she reached it, plunging the room into near darkness.
She pounded on the door. “Benjamin, you psycho! Let me out! We’re divorced! This is kidnapping, do you realize that p>
“Benjamin! Open the door!” she screamed, her voice filled with terror.
Outside, Benjamin remained
unnervingly calm. “Divorce? Heh.
You still think you can threaten me with divorce? Just stay in there and reflect on
