She looked at Jensen, her moist eyes filled with a lingering fear.
Jensen’s heart ached. He walked over and sat on the edge of her bed. “You should sleep. I’ll stay right here with you p>
His words seemed to calm her, and a sense of security settled over her. She knew she couldn’t be alone right now. She obediently lay down, but as her mind relaxed, the physical pain made itself known. The wasp stings throbbed, sending sharp jolts of pain through her body with the slightest movement.
She winced as she settled onto the mattress. Jensen frowned. “Is it the stings p>
Rebekah shook her head. Before Jensen could say anything else, her stomach let out an audible rumble.
“Hungry?” he asked.
Embarrassed, Rebekah shook her head again. Jensen couldn’t help but smile. He stood up to find her something to eat, but the moment he moved, she grabbed his hand in a panic. “Where are you going p>
She sat up abruptly, her wide, damp eyes resembling those of a startled rabbit. She looked utterly pitiful.
A sharp pang shot through Jensen’s heart, a dull ache spreading through him. The person he had cherished for so long… look what they had done to her.
He softened his expression and squeezed her hand, his voice growing even gentler. “I’m not leaving. I’m just going to call someone to bring some food p>
“It’s too late. I don’t need to eat. I’m not hungry p>
Jensen chuckled teasingly. “You really think I’m deaf p>
Rebekah’s face flushed red, knowing he was referring to her growling stomach. She hadn’t eaten since the previous night, and while the IV drip had provided nutrients, her stomach was crying out for real food. She didn’t refuse again.
Jensen took out his phone and walked over to the window to call his assistant. The entire time, Rebekah’s eyes followed his every move. He noticed, and while a part of him was on him

After the call, he returned to her bedside. Seeing her distant, unsettled expression, he started a conversation to distract her. “This isn’t the first time Benjamin has hurt you. Are you going to keep enduring it p>
The question brought a shadow to Rebekah’s face. She had hoped for an amicable divorce, to part ways with some dignity, but it was clear Benjamin still saw it as nothing more than her throwing a tantrum, Stace he had allowed Candice to hurt her so viciously, she would have to return the favor and make Candice the instrument of his downfall.
She shook her head, her voice quiet. “I’ve put up with it for years. I’m not going to, and I can’t, tolerate it anymore p>
Jensen reached out and gently smoothed her slightly messy hair. “If you need any help, just ask p>
Rebekah was about to refuse but then remembered he had single-handedly stormed the

“Did you go into the Forrester estate. alone? Did Benjamin give you any trouble for getting me out p>
Seeing her concern for him, Jensen’s lips curved into a slight smile. “He didn’t give
me any trouble, because right now, he has his own problems to deal with p>
“What do you mean?” Rebekah asked, confused.
Jensen didn’t elaborate. “You should get some rest. I’ll wake you when the food arrives p>
Seeing that he didn’t want to talk about it, Rebekah didn’t press him and obediently lay back down.
