Son?” Something deep inside of him whispered to him. But Aiden quickly pushed the thought from his head.
Aiden found himself smiling unconsciously as he walked toward the little boy, James followed closely behind, watching quietly
“Hey, little man,” Aiden said, crouching slightly so their eyes met. “How are you doing p>
“I’m fine, sir,” Arthur answered with a bright smile. His chest fluttered with excitement, he was genuinely happy to see Aiden again. He had wanted to greet him earlier when they saw each other, but his mother’s coldness toward Aiden had stopped him. Still, something about Aiden made him feel safe.
“And what are you doing here all alone?” Aiden asked, glancing around for Cassia or Damien.
“Mommy had work to do. She asked me to wait here p>
“Oh really?” Aiden’s lips curved into a soft smile. “Then can I keep you company p>
Arthur nodded eagerly. “Yes p>
Aiden lowered himself into the seat beside him.
“I didn’t see your son or your wife with you today,” Arthur said innocently.
Aiden chuckled at the boy’s bluntness. “They’re at home p>
Arthur tilted his head, thoughtful. “I don’t want to sound rude, but… last night, your wife looked scary p>
James’s brows shot up at the boy’s fearless honesty.
Aiden blinked, momentarily thrown off. “Oh?” he muttered, unsure how to respond.
“I was just joking,” Arthur quickly backtracked, cheeks flushing.
They both laughed, easing the tension.
“You’re funny,” Aiden said warmly.
Arthur shrugged. “And you’ve got a good sense of humor p>
Their shared laughter drew curious glances. James studied them intently.
The way they interacted, the ease, the connection, it was uncanny. The resemblance only made it more startling. They looked and sounded like father and son.
Before Aiden could say more, an elderly voice called out.
“Alpha Aiden p>
They turned to see a man in his seventies approaching.
“Mr. Jeff,” Aiden said, standing. Recognition softened his features. Jeff had once served as a security guard under Alaric, but Aiden had retired him when he became alpha, ensuring he was still provided for financially.

What are you doing here?” Aiden asked.
“Just a check-up. Nothing serious,” Jeff assured. “A little backache, doctors gave me something for it p>
Aiden exhaled in relief. For a moment, he’d feared that the man had contacted the sickness.

Jeff’s gaze drifted to Arthur. “Is that your son Ethan? He’s grown so well. No DNA test needed, your blood runs strong. Just like Eva when she was alive p>
At Eva’s name, pain sliced through Aiden’s chest. He froze, then glanced at Arthur. The resemblance was undeniable… but he shook the thought away. It was a Coincidence. Nothing more. He said to himself.
“He’s not my…” Aiden stopped himself mid-sentence as his eyes caught Damien in the distance, speaking with another doctor. Hatred darkened his expression.
Jeff continued, unaware of the tension. “I also heard Amelia is back. And that she’s the doctor treating the sick. Not surprised, really. She always had a kind heart. The people loved her. I hope you two can fix things… maybe even be a family again, like before p>
His words struck like a blade. Arthur’s eyes widened. So Mommy and Alpha Aiden… were together?
The man smiled and walked away.
Arthur turned to Aiden, curiosity burning. “Did you and my mommy have a relationship in the past p>
Aiden stiffened, his gaze flickering to James, then back to Arthur. After a long pause, he sighed. “Yes. But… it’s complicated, Arthur. Very complicated p>
Arthur straightened, questions tumbling out faster than he could think. “What happened between you and Mommy? And who’s Eva? Is she your daughter? Do you have a daughter and a son p>
Aiden pressed his lips together, shame flooding him. How could he explain Eva? Or the truth? He couldn’t, not to this boy.
“No… I just have a son and p>
“Arthur.” Damien’s voice cut sharp through the air.
Arthur leapt to his feet, startled, his eyes darting between Damien and Aiden.
Damien’s gaze locked onto Aiden, his fury barely restrained. He forced a tight smile, only because Arthur was watching. “Can I have a word with you Aiden? There’s something we need to discuss p>
“Sure,” Aiden said evenly.
“Not in front of the kid.” Damien’s voice was clipped. He turned and walked outside. Aiden followed.
The moment they were outside, Damien spun, his eyes blazing.
“What were you telling him?” Damien hissed through clenched teeth.
“Nothing. He asked me questions, and I answered,” Aiden replied coolly.
“Don’t play games with me. Stay away from Cassia and Arthur. I won’t let you poison his mind p>
Aiden’s lips curled into a mocking smirk. “And what if I don’t? I’m the Alpha of this pack. My attention belongs wherever I choose so you don’t get to tell me who and who I should talk to and stay away from p>

Damien’s fists tightened. “Maybe you should focus that attention on your wife. Because if you keep pushing, Cassia and I will walk out of here and out of this pack, and take the cure with us. Remember the life of your pack lie in our hands, Aiden p>
Aiden’s eyes narrowed. “Alpha Aiden. That’s my name. You will respect it. And are you threatening me p>
Damien stepped closer, his voice low and seething. “You may control this pack, but not me, and not my family. We hold the cure. If you want your people to live, stay away from my wife p>
The word “wife” ignited something feral inside Aiden. His wolf roared with rage. Amelia is his mate. His to claim. His alone.
His.
Before he could stop himself, rage consumed him, and his fist smashed into Damien’s face with bone-cracking force. Damien crumpled to the ground, coughing as blood spilled from his mouth.
“She is mine!” his wolf growled.
