Chapter 8
Alora’s POV
“Your job is to take care of the Alpha King’s sister, Keira.” The chief maid informed me after handing me my uniform. “She personally requested for you p>
“Make sure that all her needs are met without any complaints.” She warned me sternly even though the tone of her voice held pity in them as she spoke to me.
“As soon as you’re cleaned and changed up, you must hurry to her chambers to take her orders, do you understand?” She asked and I nodded once.
“When you’re done serving her, join the other maids and help out with other chores until she requests for you again.” She went further to say but I am simply uninterested.
“The Alpha’s sister is no longer your friend,” She started when I didn’t respond to her other instructions.
To be honest, I don’t want anyone advising me. I’ve had enough of it. I am at my limit and whatever advice that wouldn’t help to kill or free me at the moment, I’m not interested in taking them.
“She’s now your mistress and I doubt that she still holds any kind of sentiments for the previous friendship or bond that you both shared in the past p>
I slowly raised my face to meet her serious one. I was wondering why she was even speaking nicely to me.
She had been rude ever since Ryan released me from prison to serve at the banquet so what has changed so suddenly?
“So, do not do anything to get on her nerves or else, whatever happens might be worse than what you have gone through already.” She added and walked away while I remained standing in that position as if she was still there.
I admire her kind words but she was wrong. Whatever happens from now henceforth will not be as worse as what I had already endured.
Nothing will ever compare to the pain that Ryan has put me through.
With a deep breath, I head over to the cramped up space that they had assigned to me to change out of my worn out clothes.
Even the servants room in my mansion wasn’t as small as this one. I’m very certain that Ryan had informed them to prepare this place for me. It was his way of hurting me even more.
After I managed to freshen up, I put on the maid uniform before heading out to carry out my tasks.
Just as I am about to head towards the kitchen, a maid rushes up to me with a well decorated basket of essential cosmetics. I recognized it because I used to apply them too.
“Princess Keira wants you to bring this to her chambers,” She informs me and places the basket in my hands without giving me a chance to process her orders properly. The items in the basket almost falls to the ground but I am quick to hold onto it so that it doesn’t.
The last thing I want to do is create more problems for myself.
“Memorize every item in this basket because you will be serving her from now henceforth p>
Before I could get to ask any more questions, she turned and left, leaving me to my own thoughts.
Without wasting any more time, I head straight to Keira’s room. I know where it is located because once upon a time not so long ago, we were friends and I always visited her here to spend time with her like she does as well.
How fast the night changes.
Outside her room, I knock on her door, alerting her of my presence but there was no response.
Perturbed, I unlocked the door and made my way inside. The room was warm and quiet and everything was arranged nicely, just the way I remembered it.
Seeing this reminded me of my own room at my mansion back when my parents were still alive. My own little space. It was just as big and had everything I needed inside.
Putting the basket that I had brought with me away, my eyes wandered around the open space. For the first time in my life, I felt like a sore thumb sticking out in a crowded space.
I have been reduced to the point where I believe that I don’t even belong here. Like I don’t have the right to stand or be in places like this.
“Who asked you to come into my room without my permission?” I heard a voice behind me and turned swiftly to see Keira standing at a distance glaring daggers at me.
“Keira p>
“That’s ’My Lady’ or ’Mistress’ to you,” She corrected me and I nodded at her words.
I must’ve been foolish to think that our friendship meant anything to her now. Just like her brother, I’m sure that she’s also convinced that my father is a traitor who conspired to kill her parents.
The chief maid was right. Whatever friendship we shared or I thought we shared was long in the past.
Right now, I am nothing but a slave to her. A servant like the rest of the other Omegas that served the pack.
“I’m sorry, My Lady,” I apologized, the words almost stuck in my throat like a bad hiccup that wouldn’t go away.
“I knocked on the door but there was no reply so I came decided to come inside. It was my mistake p>
“Next time, don’t just barge into my room without permission.” She cautioned me sternly. “Wait for my instruction no matter how long it’ll take. You don’t own this place and we do not share that type of relationship anymore p>
“I didn’t even want you as my maid but Ryan insisted that I keep you close for whatever twisted reason that he has so don’t make me regret it p>
She didn’t request for me? So it was Ryan who asked her to keep me close so she could watch my every move? So he could exert his control and dominance over me? I should’ve known. I don’t know why I keep underestimating him despite everything that he had done to me.
“I don’t know why he keeps asking me to babysit a traitor’s daughter.” She sneered at me with disgust.
I remained silent as she spoke to me harshly. I’ve experienced worse so I’m certain that I will survive this one as well.
Brushing past me with her silk dress that dragged out on the ground as she walked, she took a seat on her bed and took off her shoes.
“I need a foot care service and since my other maid has been relieved of duty, you’ll do it on her behalf p>
“Sure, My Lady p>
Taking the basket from where I had kept it, I placed it on the ground and went down on my knees.
She placed her legs on my thighs without a care in the world while I sorted through the basket to grab the items that I would be using.
“Make sure they’re cleaned properly or Ryan will have a field day with you like he did two days ago.” She threatened and I immediately went cold from fear. How on earth could she say something like that to me?
