Chapter 14
Alora’s POV
“Leave us for a minute,” Keira instructed the guards and with a bow of their heads, they walked away.
“Tsk! Tsk!! Tsk She clicked her tongue as she approached me where I was tied up. Her fingers gently brushed my cheeks.
“Poor thing. Seeing you tied up here almost makes me feel sorry for you.” She gave me a sympathetic look but I wasn’t fooled. She might’ve fooled everyone but not me.
“Why did you do it, Keira?” I asked, my heart too heavy to convey the emotions that I was feeling at the moment. “Are you happy seeing me like this p>
She wiped the fake tears off her cheeks, “Of course. You have no idea how much it took to pull off such a performance like that in front of everyone p>
“I have been planning to get rid of you for a long time and after what you saw what happened last night, I knew that I had found the perfect opportunity to take you out for good before it backfired p>
“You could’ve easily asked me to stay quiet.” I sniveled when I felt warm tears gather around my eyes, threatening to fall. “I was your friend and you know that I would never try to hurt you in that manner p>
“I could’ve taken an oath if you wanted me to but you went ahead and decided to pull a stunt like this? Was everything we shared in the past nothing but a lie to you p>
“Don’t you get it? Everything we shared in the past became nothing the moment your father conspired against my family to snatch our happiness away.” She said through gritted teeth.
“Everything we shared before means nothing to me now, Alora,” She declared. “I hate you now more than ever p>
“Do you know how I felt after finding out that the father of my only friend plotted to kill mine?” Her eyes shone in hurt and pain.
“If our friendship meant anything to you then you would’ve said something but you didn’t because you wanted to benefit from it by marrying my brother p>
“You know that’s not true.” I cried out. “I never knew and I know that my father would have never done something like that p>
“You see this attitude of yours is the reason why you will always suffer Alora.” She stated, “You always want to trust people and see the good in them and that is your downfall p>
“What did you think?” She raised her chin at me defiantly. “That if you told Ryan about me having sex with a man, he would believe you over me, his sister p>
“You overestimated yourself Alora and in the process, you underestimated me.” She said in a cold voice.
“Your fate has already been sealed since you stepped foot into this place. I had expected Ryan to kill you off that day he killed your father but he didn’t p>
“Instead, he made you a slave here and put you to serve under me. Was that supposed to be my consolation for the death of my parents?” She asked but I only remained silent, not able to utter a single word.
I know that she was hurting but it still didn’t give her the right to do this to me. It doesn’t give her the right to hurt me intentionally.
“To make matters worse, he even had the guts to sleep with you. Why on earth would he even want to draw pleasure from a traitor’s daughter? It didn’t make any sense to me at all.” She sniffed, eyes turning red.
“Sleep with me?” I questioned, “You think that he slept with me? Your brother raped me!” I whispered in a barely audible voice.
“Same difference,” She shrugged in a nonchalant manner. “It doesn’t change the fact that he touched you when he shouldn’t have p>
“But then I wouldn’t blame him.” She rambled on. “He used to love you and I knew that no matter how much hw tries to mask it, his lingering feelings would always get in the way of any punishment that you deserved p>
“And just seeing your face everyday hurts me.” She confessed. “It reminded me of what I lost and then I decided to get rid of you myself p>
“I planned it every day since you were brought here.” She said to me. “And you coming to my chambers that night was the beginning of your doom. I instructed them to make you clean up my mother’s room p>
“I did it in a way that you wouldn’t be able to prove your innocence even if you wanted to. I wanted him to give you the harshest punishment that he has ever give to anyone p>
“And it worked because even if he never wanted to do it, you made him do it by digging up your own grave when you decided involve me p>
She smiled at me. “You should’ve never called his sister a whore in front of everyone and now, you’ll get what’s coming for you p>
“I will make sure that everyday, you will wish to join your parents in the afterlife.” And with that, she walked away, leaving the guards to carry out my punishment.
At that moment, I closed my eyes and surrendered myself to what was about to happen.
A stray tear fell down my cheeks when they dragged me to the fields and tore my clothes open to expose my bare back.
Following Ryan’s instruction, they whipped my back, over and over again. I cried out in unmasked pain and agony but they didn’t stop till I felt my skin tear with every stroke that they gave me.
They continued for hours, taking turns until I was sore and couldn’t feel my back anymore.
Out of nowhere, they forcefully made me drink a liquid substance from a bottle that rendered me weak to the point where I felt my whole body go lifeless as I fell to the ground.
“I don’t think she will recover anymore. She’s almost as good as dead. We have to tell the Alpha King that she gave up during her torture session p>
I lay there, unable to move when I felt someone carry me on their shoulders.
“There’s no need to do that.” The other replied. “He said that he no longer has any use for her and that we should dispose of her lifeless body in the woods where no one would find her if she dies during the session p>
“Poor girl, I almost feel sorry for her p>
“Let’s go.” They said in unison and transported me into the wild woods, discarding me like dirt before walking away.
Hours later, I found myself curled up in the cold darkness with nothing but grasses and tall trees surrounding me. I gasped for breath, fighting for my life as more tears streamed down my eyes.
“Help me, please!” With a small voice, I called out for help but none was forthcoming.
Suddenly, the air around me became tight and i could barely breathe. I knew then that my wolf was done fighting and that she had also given up as well. With every strangled sob that cracked out of my throat, I slowly felt my life force draining away.
“If I should die I croaked out in a throaty breath as I said my last prayers to the moon goddess. “If I should die and ever meet any of them in my next life, I promise to make them pay. I promise to avenge my death and make their lives miserable as they have made mine p>
