Chapter 26
Kyrell’s POV
I arrived at my bed chambers and soon enough, Anya walked in after me too. Her hands firmly holding onto her bruised cheeks as she scampered to a tight corner as if to sheild herself away from me.
I have never hit her before or laid my hands on any woman so I know that it took her by surprise when I did it for the first time today.
I have been very angry at what I saw that I couldn’t stay still to reel in my emotions and when I lost it for a split second, my Wolf had taken over the reins to control me, hurting her in the process.
This is exactly why I try to keep my anger or any emotion that might escalate into something dangerous under control. I am a damaged man wielding two wild animals inside me that cannot be tamed.
If it were the Cougar who had shown himself today instead of the Wolf then she would’ve been a goner because she would never had survived its wrath and unsheathed rage.
It is by far the most dangerous predator that resides inside me. Only few have witnessed it and those few did not live to tell the tale. She should count herself lucky today.
“Anya I drawled stiffly, my deep voice startling and booming through the walls of my chambers.
I saw her squirm when her eyes came in contact with my dark and scary ones. I was fuming in anger and could feel the rage registered in her name that I had just called out.
“Why did you do it?” I uttered, one sentence that voiced so much authority and command. My face barely readable.
“I…I She stuttered and I slapped her across the face again and she crashed to the ground in front of me. Her eyes dancing in fear as she drew short and haggard breaths.
“When I ask you a question Anya, you answer immediately.” I held her chin in a firm grip, tightening my hand as if I wanted to break her jaw while she struggled to break free and breathe through her mouth “I do not tolerate it when I am put in an unnecessary suspense or ignored p>
“F-Forgive me my lord!” She whimpered. “I’m sorry Her lips quivered as she pleaded for forgiveness. Her eyes going red with sweat breaking out of her skin.
“Now tell me,” I started “Why shouldn’t I just kill you this very instant, Anya? Give me one reason why I shouldn’t just sever your head from your body right now p>
“My Lord!” She scrambled on her feet almost immediately in a desperate plea. “Forgive me my lord. Have mercy on this lowly servant! Please do not kill me.” She held onto my garment but I kicked her away.
“Do you know how much I adore Moira?” I asked, taking a step forward. “I might not say it or express it often but do you know what she is to me? The relationship that we have p>
She shook her head in the negative, afraid to answer. I can practically smell her terror all the way from where I am standing.
“Moira is like a mother to me. She raised and suffered through all those years with me and you dare to raise your filthy hands on her!” I yelled. My anger spiking up when I recollected what I had walked in on earlier.
She was openly crying now. “It was an accident, My Lord. I didn’t mean to p>
“Of course you didn’t which is why I have reserved a very special punishment for you.” My lips stretched into an unforgivable smirk. “I think that your courage and bravery that you exercised earlier should be rewarded, don’t you think so p>
The door flew open at that instant and Moira walked in with another glass of herbal mix. I released my grip on her chin and pushed her to the ground.
“Now, take it from her and drown every content in that grass till the very last drop.” He instructed and with shaky hands, she reached for the glass and placed it to her mouth before drinking the entire liquid.
She gagged at the after taste, almost coughing her lungs out.
“I would’ve let you go with a simple warning but recently, I found out that my slave has started growing guts so how about I help to clip them so that they remain in place?” I muttered to her hearing and she panicked.
Caressing her hair softly, I tucked it behind her ears and proceeded to collect the tears that fell from her cheeks with my hands. She watched me with pain filled eyes as though I was about to betray her.
“You always seem to be forgetting your place, Anya.” I said in a calm voice that shocked her because she flinched under my touch.
“But you don’t have to worry.” I assured her. “Because this punishment is simply my own way of showing you that I am still your master and you are my slave because those two status can never mix, Anya p>
With that being said, I beckoned to the sentinels guarding my door and they quickly trooped into my bed chambers.
“My Lord?” The head sentinel bowed his head to the ground and the others followed suite, awaiting my command.
“Lock up my slave in the dark cage beneath the tower. Bind her hands and feet and do not give her even a pint of water or single crumb of bread for the next three days.” I ordered sternly.
“But, My Lord—” Moira was saying but I held up a finger at her, shutting her up almost immediately. She knew better than to talk back or try to change my mind when I have made a decision.
“Please Anya cried out desperately.
I know just how much she despised the cage because she had been locked up in one for the greater part of her life. She was scared of the dark cage and she hated being locked up in it because it only brought her bad memories. What other way to punish her than to make her re-visit her demons?
“Please, My Lord. Not the cage. Anything but the cage.” She held onto my garment tightly. Her eyes red and swollen from crying too much. Her whole body shaking. “I promise that I will never do it again. I will never p>
“Take her away.” I gave my command without allowing her to finish her sentence and they quickly tied her up and bundled her out of my bedroom while I looked on with Moira standing right next to me, unable to utter a single word concerning what had just happened.
