Chapter 32
ANYA
I walked out of Kyrell’s room, my shoulders slouched like someone who had a dagger lodged in her chest. The air around me was chilly and suffocating that I felt my head getting dizzy to the point of almost passing out.
His words has indeed touched a muscle. I can’t believe that Kyrell would say something like that to me?
I know that he has never been a fan of anything intimate but it still hurts that he would treat me this way. Didn’t I mean anything to him? Did what we share mean nothing to him at all?
I have been so excited to see him ever since I woke up this morning and when I finally show myself to him, he kicks me away without a second glance like I am someone unimportant. I can handle the fact that everyone hates me. I can live with it but one thing I can’t handle is when Kyrell punches me in the gut just like everyone else.
I’ll just chalk it down to the fact that maybe he’s in a bad mood. He did go to complete the first step of his marriage ritual so maybe, he didn’t like what he saw or the woman he was going to get married to.
The whole trip must’ve been tiresome for him and that’s why he he’s upset. I won’t let anything he says or do get to me. I am still his Mistress and nothing will change about that.
As long as he always comes back to me after his episodes. As long as I always share his bed after he fights his demons, nothing else matters.
Dragging my feet down the stairs, I ignored the greetings from the maids that walked past me as I made my way towards the kitchen.
Just as I took a sharp curve around the corner, I bumped into someone and the tray I am holding comes crashing to the ground, the empty glass breaking to pieces.
“Are you blind?” I cursed out, glaring at the person who had just walked into me. I know that it was an accident but I don’t care. “Do you see the mess you’ve caused p>
“I am so deeply sorry,” She whispered softly in regret. Her eyes staring down at the mess that she had created. I am already feeling angered by what Kyrell said to me and now I would have to deal with this too?
At this point, the moon goddess should just strike me dead instead of bringing me all these unfortunate problems that I didn’t even ask for.
“I’ll have it cleaned up somehow, you don’t have to worry.” She said calmly and that’s when I looked up to see the face of the person that I was talking to.
I sized her up from head to toe. She was wearing a long, soft silk skirt with fitted bodice. Her brunette hair was braided to her back and adorned fancy with hairpins. She had an innocent look, like someone who wouldn’t be able to hurt a fly.
Despite her simple attire, she looked fine and polished unlike the other regular maids around here and she doesn’t look familiar so who is she? And why is she here of all places?
“Who are you anyway and what are you doing here?” I questioned in a dead voice, my eyes glaring daggers at her. She doesn’t look like someone from around here and for some reason, it bothers me.
She didn’t respond to my question. Instead, she bent down almost immediately to pick up the broken glass with her bare hands and in the process, a fragment cuts her skin.
“Ouch!” She winced in pain, followed by a low hiss as blood oozed out from the cut. She shook her hands vigorously to relieve the pain but her blood keep seeping through the open cut.
“My Lady?” I heard Moira’s distressed voice from behind us and in seconds, she had rushed down to swoop the fragile looking girl from the ground and into her hands.
Grabbing her hands, I watched her carefully examine her cut. “Why did you have to pick that up yourself? What are you even doing out here so early in the morning p>
“I was looking for you and then we ran into each other.” She explained sweetly, gesturing at me like it didn’t mean anything. “I just wanted to clean up the mess that I made. I had no idea that I would cut myself in the process p>
She gave a nervous laugh while I’m still struggling to understand what exactly was happening right now.
“You should’ve sent for me instead of coming out here on your own.” Moira chided her. “What if something had happened to you? You could’ve gotten seriously injured or worse and the Lycan King would’ve taken his anger out at me p>
“The Lycan King?” I thought to myself. Who is she and why would he get mad if she hurts herself?
“I’m sorry, Moira.” She apologized with a faint smile and just then, Moira darted her eyes at me, seething in anger.
“Did you tell her to pick up the broken glass?” She questioned, leaving me stunned.
“Of course I didn’t.” I refuted. “She’s the one who decided to pick it up herself. Is she stupid? Didn’t she know that doing that was going to hurt her p>
“Watch your tongue, Anya!” Moira yelled in a loud voice, shocking me to the bone. “You will show her respect. Do you have any idea who this woman is p>
“Am I supposed to?” I rolled my eyes in blatant disrespect. “I literally just met her here. Who is she? Is she a new maid p>
“She is not only Royalty but soon to be Kyrell’s bride and the New Luna of this pack p>
My eyes widened at the revelation, almost falling out of their sockets as my hands flew to cover my mouth in disbelief. Kyrell’s bride? He brought her home? When? How? And why didn’t anyone tell me about it?
“Forgive me, My Lady.” I apologized continuously. “It wasn’t my intention. The Lycan king had mentioned bringing a wife home but I had no idea that you would be here so soon. I thought it was a new maid p>
“You don’t have to apologize. It’s my fault for running into you without looking. I should’ve been more careful.” She went on to say.
“No. It was my fault.” I admitted, taking the blame on myself. It was far better than Kyrell hearing about this later and getting mad at me. He’s already in a bad mood and the last thing I wanted to do was add to it.
“I should’ve looked more carefully. It was my mistake and I apologize sincerely.” I lied through gritted teeth. The last thing I am, was being sincere about anything that had just happened right now. At this point, I wished that she had bled to death by the cut.
“Come with me, My Lady.” Moira tugged her forward, forcing her to follow. “I will tend to your wounds and apply some ointments to make it heal faster p>
“I hope to see you again, Anya.” She smiled at me one last time before walking away with Moira. The fake regret on my face turned into a deep frown at that very moment. Kyrell brought a woman home that wasn’t even his bride yet and chose to leave me in the dark about it?
