Chapter 47
Negan
Everything went so smoothly in the Luna Ball.
Rowland was able to put the second dosage of the poison meant for Phoebe into the drinks of the Luna of Crescent Moon and some random noble of Blue Moon that I found annoying.
After the Ball, Kaene tried doing damage control by calling a meeting of the Alpha Council and Elder Gita in the presence of the Alpha of Crescent Moon, and they even managed to find out how the poison worked.
But the Alpha of Crescent Moon wasn’t having it and left in anger, taking his wife’s body with him.
I had a smirk on my face as I reminisced about all this while heading back to my private residence.
Just when I stepped into the compound, Rowland materialized beside me, a wicked grin on his face.
“Did I do good?” He asked, rubbing his hands together like a child expecting a treat.
I glanced at him, nodding my head. “You outdid yourself, Rowland. Not only did we successfully ruin the relationship between the Crescent Moon pack and this pack, but we managed to entertain ourselves while doing it p>
I took in a deep breath, sighing with satisfaction soon after. “There was so much chaos tonight. And better still, we put a dent in Catherine’s plans. You should’ve seen the look on the bitch’s face when everything went to shit before her eyes p>
We sniggered to ourselves, Rowland pulling out a bottle of whiskey seemingly out of nowhere.
“This calls for a celebration.” He announced, about to pour himself a glass.
But I shook my head, stopping him before he could. “Oh, but tonight was just the beginning, my dear partner. The next phase of the plan involves Phoebe. That’s why her survival is of the most importance p>
Rowland frowned, staring at the bottle and glasses in his hand before keeping them back into his suit.
“What’s the next phase of the plan then?” He asked curiously.
I merely shrugged as I led the way, heading into the house. “For now, nothing much. We just have to wait and watch Catherine finally snap and show the footage of me and Phoebe to Kaene. Then, with him distracted by the heartbreak p>
“We can kill him.” Rowland chimed in, a murderous glint in his eyes.
I smirked but shook my head once more. “Not exactly. We can’t kill the Alpha, at least not directly. But it seems he’s already building enemies for himself who’ll do that for us p>
At that same moment, I opened the door leading into the luxurious dimly lit living room.
Rowland stared at me with confusion in his eyes as he followed behind me. “Enemies like who p>
My smile only widened as I sat on one of the sofas in the living room, crossing one leg on top of the other. “That’s a surprise, Rowland. But let’s just say I planted a few seeds here and there in the mind of a particularly feeble-minded individual close to the Alpha p>
I didn’t want to spoil the fun of what was coming to Rowland.
But I knew even I couldn’t wait for what was about to happen next p>
The next day, I made my way to the Alpha’s Mansion.
He’d appointed me and Gamma Thane to make diplomatic visits to the packs that attended the Luna Ball and I had to visit him to get more feedback.
Also, I had it in mind to see Phoebe and tease her a little. It wouldn’t hurt to create some gossip amongst the staff members with my presence along the way.
Anyway, as I walked into the compound, I spotted Kaene standing outside the mansion in front of one of his cars, sipping a cup of coffee.
He looked like he hadn’t slept well, his eyes having clear black circles around them.
I couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction seeing that as I approached him.
“Good morning, Kaene,” I greeted, a smile plastered on my face.
Kaene glanced at me, nodding his head absentmindedly. “Negan. I’m glad I caught you before I left for work. There’s just been a lot going on with the companies that I can’t ignore p>
I nodded in return, retaining the fake smile on my face. “I was just about to head out on our diplomatic visits but came here to see if you had any more information p>
Kaene smiled, placing a palm on my shoulder. “Thank you, buddy. I need to ask a favor of you.” He paused, staring at me to gauge my reaction.
I nodded my head, urging him to go on.
“I want you to keep an eye on Phoebe and guide her in her duties as Luna. She’s still adjusting to her new role, and I don’t want her to feel overwhelmed.” He explained.
Oh, la, la.
Was that concern I heard behind his voice?
Was the arrogant Alpha finally growing soft with his Luna?
I couldn’t help but smile, my heart racing with excitement.
This was exactly what I had been waiting for – the perfect opportunity to get closer to Phoebe and manipulate her to further my agenda.
“Of course, Kaene,” I replied with a calm tone. “Phoebe is in good hands, you can trust me on that. I guess I needed some extra hands for these diplomatic missions p>
I noticed the way Kaene’s eyes scrunched together at the words ’good hands’, but he tried his best to hide it.
Oh, he was jealous.
More fun for me.
“Thanks, Negan,” Kaene said finally, his expression relaxing slightly. “I owe you one p>
Just then, Lyra, Kaene’s assistant, walked out of the mansion and headed toward us.
She paused when she saw me but continued walking, composing herself.
“Good morning, Beta.” She greeted me with a slight bow, before turning her gaze to Kaene.
“Alpha, that meeting we were supposed to have with the board was scheduled for today. The shareholders are already waiting for you.” She whispered but I was able to hear everything.
Kaene sighed, rubbing his forehead with frustration as he handed his cup of coffee to Lyra. He adjusted his suit, giving me one final glance.
“Update me on if Phoebe was of any help, okay?” He said finally before stepping into the car.
Lyra glanced at me briefly before hopping into the car as well, while awkwardly holding onto the coffee cup.
Now to go find Phoebe p>
