Jeremiah had said that Nicole’s condition wasn’t improving even after taking the medicine. He wasn’t sure what more could come out of dragging things on.
Nicole didn’t want to delay any longer. If she couldn’t leave this place by plane in three days, she’d leave by boat.
Eugene and Nicole chatted with one another in the car. They soon arrived at the restaurant.
Nicole updated Eugene about the current situation while they had their meal. Eugene then made a quick phone call to someone.
He sneered after hanging up and said, “I’ve looked into it. The current owner of that land is Caleb Gibson’s distant cousin. You were right–they are just making everything up p>
Nicole wasn’t surprised. Hayden’s attitude toward her was what decided how his friends treated her. Since Hayden doted on Gloria, Caleb would naturally antagonize Nicole and do all he could to eradicate
her.
“I have an idea of how to retrieve that piece of land. It’s already in motion. It’ll be easy to gain the upper hand against Caleb’s cousin. The man isn’t exactly a law–abiding citizen,” Eugene said.
He placed a piece of cut steak on Nicole’s plate. “As for you… Are you really okay with parting with Hayden and Matthew? Hayden was your first love, and you nearly died giving birth to Matthew p>
“Nothing is more important than my own life. I know what I want. Letting go of the two of them isn’t as
hard as you think it is,” Nicole said calmly.
She used to think that she’d only stopped loving Hayden when she died. But now that she was actually about to die, everything suddenly didn’t matter anymore. She was able to so easily let go of what she
couldn’t before.
Eugene was shocked by Nicole’s sudden shift in perspective. Before he could ask the reason why she had let Hayden and Matthew go, someone suddenly opened the suite door.
The waiter came in with the rest of their food.
Eugene and Nicole continued talking, not noticing that someone had stopped outside the room to watch
them.
After a while, Nicole sensed that she was about to have a nosebleed. Worried Eugene would notice, she excused herself to the restroom.
She saw someone leaning against the wall the moment she stepped outside.
Caleb snorted, gazing at her. “Goddamn, Nicole. When did you get yourself another man? Does Hayden know you’ve been putting up that head–over–heels act in front of him all this while, when really you’ve just been fooling around behind his back p>

Nicole stopped, feeling disgusted by Caleb, especially in her current uncomfortable state.
“Watch your tone, Caleb. I used to let you off easy for what you did, but not anymore,” she said coldly.
“Oh, are you chickening out? I’ve never seen that man in the dining suite before. You were even eating with him in such a private space. You two are clearly hooking up p>
Caleb firmly stood in Nicole’s way. “If you’re going to continue this illicit relationship, then don’t blame me for telling Hayden about it p>
He took out his phone and called Hayden.
Nicole glanced coldly at Caleb before turning to leave, leaving Caleb shocked.
Shouldn’t Nicole be stopping him right now, fearing Hayden would get upset? After all, Nicole had always been such a people pleaser!
It seemed like Nicole really was cheating on Hayden. She clearly didn’t care for Hayden, yet wanted to remain Mrs. Spencer so badly!
Caleb ground his teeth angrily and stormed after her.
Nicole washed the blood from her nose and touched up her makeup before leaving the restroom.
The moment Caleb saw her come out, he asked, “Who was that man? Hurry up and divorce Hayden if
you’re cheating on him! You shouldn’t have been his wife in the first place. You wouldn’t have been if
Gloria hadn’t left p>
Nicole smiled coldly. “I told you–I have no desire to continue being Mrs. Spencer whatsoever. But while
I’m still around, you better not be in such a hurry to have Gloria take my place p>
“How dare you!” Caleb angrily grabbed Nicole’s arm with all his might. “I’ve already told Hayden what’s going on here. We’ll see how you dig yourself out of this hole then p>
“Let go of her!” Someone snapped right after Caleb finished speaking.
