But he just kept flipping through the book, barely acknowledging I was there.

Without a word, Alexander pulled out his phone and dialed a number, his expression remaining completely emotionless. “Send a female attendant to care for Miss Winters,” he ordered.
Then, with one hand casually tucked into his pocket, he walked out of the room, pulling the door closed behind him with a quiet click.

Morning sunlight streamed through the curved floor–to–ceiling windows, hitting my eyelids with irritating brightness.
1 reluctantly opened my eyes, squinting as I glanced around the room.
The bedroom was empty- no sign of Alexander. At least I hadn’t sleepwalked again during the night.
I yawned and stretched, then got out of bed and wandered into the main cabin. Just as I emerged, I caught sight of Alexander, impeccably dressed and clearly on his way out.
