“Then what is it like? She was with you for half a day, and you nearly got her killed p>
His eyes bore into mine with intense rage. “What did you feed her? Ice cream, hmm p>
“Didn’t you know her body is weak? That she can’t have cold foods p>
I trembled under his verbal assault, eyes brimming with tears that threatened to fall at the slightest movement. “I’m sorry, I really didn’t know p>
“You didn’t know?” Alexander sneered, making no attempt to hide the contempt in his eyes. “If you knew nothing, why did you go near her p>
“Why do you keep involving yourself with her again and again p>

The thought of Thea nearly dying sent a bloodthirsty gleam into Alexander’s eyes, his face terrifyingly dark with rage. “Sarah Winters, are you listening p>

My breath caught in my throat, and for a moment even my heartbeat seemed to stop. Then, as if a dam had broken, hot tears began streaming down my face.

When Alexander turned cruel, he never held back. I forced my eyes wide open, desperately trying to hold back my tears. “I’ll… I’ll go now p>
“If Thea asks for me when she wakes up, just tell her that Auntie Sarah is very busy right now, but she’ll come see her when she can p>
Alexander’s POV
I said nothing more, my dark eyes locked onto her. Onto those tear–filled eyes that somehow managed to pierce through my fury.
Despite the cold rage still coursing through my veins, something twisted painfully in my chest at the sight of her tears.
Sarah wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, then bent forward in a deep bow that made my wolf stir uncomfortably within me.
“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
She turned away then, not daring to look at me again. I watched as she took each step, her movements painfully slow, as if every inch forward caused her physical agony.
The hospital corridor wasn’t long, yet she moved with the speed of a wounded animal, struggling to escape a predator.
She was so thin, her frame fragile against the harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital.
I stood rigid as stone, my face half–hidden in shadow as I watched her retreat.
My wolf paced restlessly within me, conflicted between the protective rage over Thea and some deeper, primal instinct I refused to acknowledge.
Jeremy shifted beside me, clearly uncomfortable with the tension saturating the air. I could sense his hesitation before he finally spoke.
“Alpha Alexander…” he began cautiously, “Miss Winters may truly not have meant any harm p>
I remained silent, my jaw clenched tight enough to crack teeth.
“And, well, she’s just a woman,” Jeremy continued, his voice dropping lower. “Don’t you think you were a bit harsh with her p>
My assistant paused, swallowing hard before adding, “Perhaps you should… go after Miss Winters p>
